Project #1 Draft (Klever)

My full name is Klever Javier Cobena Ramirez (crazy long i know). I am a Freshmen here at City Tech. I am 18 years old and I am of Ecuadorian and Salvadorian descent. I live in the Bronx (6 line) and I’ve had a passion for visual arts for as long as I can remember. Ever since I could even speak, I used to always tell my parents how much I wanted to be an “art-teeest” as I used to say it. Growing up i became more and more fascinated in the way art was used to decorate the world around me, and how important it was to so many people in being able to express ideas and imagination. I began to draw and paint every single day. I used to carry my mini sketchbook with me everywhere I went. In it i would have such childish but imaginative and crazy drawings, which till this day, I still possess that free style in my work. I used to beg my parents to take me to the MOMA almost every weekend, after my first time visiting it when i was in first grade. I continued to grow more and more inspired, although when i reached high school, I had dropped my passion for it due to an unexpected tragedy in my family. However, i decided to continue to pursue what i have always known and loved, and i decided to make it my major in college and re-ignite that passion I’ve always had. I aspire to be an animator or a concept artist in the future, and pursue making a living out of what i love to do. I can imagine myself in the future creating beautiful and complex works of concept art, that can potentially be brought to life through a video game or a feature film. THAT is what I want to do, and be successful at. A few years from now, when technology advances even more than it already has, i want to see my name in the credits of the newest blockbuster film or the hottest new video game release. Some words that describe me as a person are Timid, Stubborn, and Adventurous. Though I can be hard headed over small things sometimes, I’m pretty likeable and easy to get along with. I’m always the type to be very timid to speak when I’m around new people, but once you get to know me, I could talk about just about anything for daysss. I also love to discover and travel, and get into new things. Some things I’m into are baseball, DC comic heroes, drawing/creating/writing, anime, science fiction, horror and fantasy books, and traveling. I am more specifically a huge fan of the hunger games series,the Dragonball series, and Halo. I’m also really into Music and the performing arts (more specifically Broadway musicals), as i went to a performing arts high school, where I did many amazing things like be a part of huge concerts and shows, and met many famous music artists, performers, and actors.

There are many reasons and aspects as to why I chose this Avatar for my profile. My avatar consists of a piece of concept art created by Bungie Studios, for a video game called Destiny. Its almost like a design or blueprint, so to speak. A concept artist created this character and designed him, before creating it digitally through the game. Not only am i a vivid player of the Destiny video game, but the art and character design in the game are simply fascinating to me. The aesthetic care and imagination that went into creating this “world” is mind blowing. Every time I play i can’t help but think of how amazing it would be to one day create such vivid and fantastical worlds and characters, and have them come to life in such a way. I aspire to be the one to create such concept art, after being inspired for so many years through movies, TV shows and other entertainment media.

Though my Avatar to me is a symbol of the passion I wish to pursue, there can be all types of interpretations as to why I chose it. Knowing a lot of people who are fans of the Destiny video game, anyone of those or other individuals could simply assume i just love the game. There could also be inferences that i have a pinpointed passion for just video games, which is not the case at all. Yes, i do love the game, but my main perspective is the art and passion that went into creating every single aspect of that game. Especially the concept art, which like I mentioned before, is something I’m pursuing to do. Through my entire profile, i wish to relay and make clear what I pursue, and how i plan to get there.

Project 1: Draft

My name is Brian Mifsud a Maltese American just to clarify Malta is an island in the Mediterranean. I’m a freshman at Citytech but I recently graduated from La Salle Academy. I’m an overall friendly person especially with people I get familiar with. I enjoy using my imagination to think of things that may make good stories or visuals. On my down time my mind tends to wander as I imagine my favorite characters whether they’re from video games or cartoons, in different situations that no one has seen yet in the hopes that someday I may be able to bring those imaginations to life some day. I really love learning new things especially when it helps me further my artistic abilities. There is so much I don’t know about animation and graphic design but I’m not about to let that stop me. With that knowledge I hope to be able to create amazing worlds and characters where ever I end up so that I may be able to provide entertainment for others. Because I really want to affect people’s lives with what I’m creating whether it’s making somebody laugh or teaching someone an important lesson I feel that with the things I am learning I can accomplish that.

The avatar I chose to represent myself is the Achievement Hunter name and logo. This picture means a lot to me because I like all the Achievement Hunters am a gamer I also like to consider myself an unofficial achievement hunter because in games I always try to get all the achievements that the creators put in the game. But also because of Achievement Hunter they’re videos have led me to their main site Rooster teeth which brought me to animated shows like Red vs Blue and now RWBY these shows have inspired me into becoming an animator because they showed me to do what you love in life with shows like RWBY it shows me that when you’re an animator you can let your imagination run wild and create things you would never be able to otherwise so it helps me become inspired an continue doing what I love which is drawing. They have also showed me the wonders of what animators can bring to life and how they can immerse their audiences in the worlds the created and the characters inhabit it.

To others my avatar may be misleading. Most people won’t be able to understand why I have chosen the logo as my avatar. Some may think that I have chosen the picture as my avatar only because I am a fan of Achievement Hunter. But that is only a small part of it.

My complete profile will covey that I am very determined and hard working to get what I want. I will not give up on something that I put my mind to accomplish. I tend to express myself either through games or drawing mainly because they are both what I am the best at. I will work as hard as I can until I deem something to be complete so that others will be able to watch, admire, and enjoy my work.

Project #1 (Draft)

Ayano Morishima was born in Japan and moved to the United States when she was just a 10 years old. Knowing English from her Saturday school in Japan, that opportunity made a use in her life when she moved. Since English is her second language, she had to take ESL. It took her about 5 years of special class to pass, however she needed to learn English for her future. Graduated from the high school, The Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) in the year of 2015. She had no connection in any of the art department other than the ceramics during her high school year. She is now 19 years old and going to college to learn more about the art and to be able to move one step closer to what she wants to do with her dream.

My passions lie in anime, because that is how I grew up. When I was little, my daily Sunday morning was anime day. I remember that is was a anime for kids, like Sailor Moon, Ojamajo, Doraemon, Pokemon etc. As I grew up, the variety of anime or should I say genre of anime expanded. Because of the expansion, this made me come in mind that what if I can be able to draw like that and create my own anime which eventually be on T.V.? I eventually started drawing anime as I copied off others and eventually was be able to work from there to make my own. I also like anime, because it is almost a fantasy that will never come true in life. Sure, there are shows that turned to live actions. However, it is different, it is because of anime they could create something like this. Many of my friends insist on becoming an manga artist, however I declined. There are two reasons, first I cannot draw the same character and second living as a manga artist can become a hardship in economy wise. First problem can be solved, if I keep working on my drawing skills, however I cannot go through life without selling manga and get money off of it. I usually be more aesthetic about my art work, because I get frustrated when final drawing looks horrible than the one I imaged in my head. Also, when head is too big for the body, etc.

Usually I draw most of the time with a single pencil, but I hope I learn how to use various range of pencils. So that I could expand my drawing skills. Recently I am fascinated with digital drawing on a tablet. I find this interesting because there were techniques that I was able to do digitally and not by hand. The avatar that I chose was a character from the BGM that I recently found on YouTube. After listening to it, I fell in love with it and started to go to its official website and encountered with the avatar. Before knowing it, the character itself matches my personality and the features. As I looked closely, his sharp eyes and angry eyebrows shows a powerful and smart mental, however his one hand is covered over his chest, this action makes the connection that I also too have a weak side and doesn’t always acts strong. We both have a same length of hair, however the difference of the avatar is that I don’t have a white hair and my gender is a girl.

My avatar could be misleading to someone that I am mean or cold to people, because of the facial expression. Also, the characters that are written in the paper might mislead people that it is in Chinese characters rather than Japanese. Many people say that they are the same, however they are not. In history that these characters came from China. However, when it came across to Japan those characters changed a little to a simple character which people could understand more.

My profile conveys that I am hard worker, and a amazing person who has a passion about anime. My imagination can go beyond the world, and always have a creative story that I can just make a book about it. This matters to me, because this is who I am and always will be. Probably after 10 or 20 years, my interest in anime and being creative will never change. If I changed, it will most likely that I will be a boring person who only think about reality. Its good to have a time to be in your own world.

My name is Brandy and I’m a freshman here at Citytech. I graduated from Celia Cruz High School of music and while attending there I use to play percussion. I’m a pretty shy person at first but eventually I open up the more I get familiar with new people. When I do open up I’m a funny, bubbly, weird person who is pretty open minded to new ideas. My passions lie in learning, creating, anime and imagination. I love learning not only new artistic techniques but just more about the world in general. There’s still so much I don’t know and finding the answer to those unraveling questions is really satisfying. With creating, being able to bring out imagination to real life whether it’s from mine or someone else’s vision is fascinating because a lot of interesting ideas dwells within people. I love anime because through this medium of animation the stories are just marvelous. In anime I find there’s more being put into the characters development, plotline and conflicts. Anime really engages me to want to know what will happen next and to make me feel what my favorite characters are feeling. With imagination I love wandering into my own world taking a break from reality at times. Being able to come up with ideas that seem pretty unreal and having a feel for that fantasy is something that I can’t get bored from.I’m still discovering my design aesthetic but I would say I really like to put my focus on color. Color to me really brings in mood depending on the color itself or the shade. My favorite color is blue and to me the color blue is bold yet gentle which is why I love it so much. In five to ten years I see myself enjoying whatever career I’m in, still exploring the world and having new experiences.

I would say that my avatar portrays my carefree,adventurous personality. The way the petals carry off into the wind conveys being free to explore the world which is something I always look forward to in life.The petals also represent I’m a go with the flow type of person. The various sceneries depict the beauty I see in the vast world we live in. The different landscapes shows the adventures I wish to have in the future. This image really sets the way I like to imagine by the way the colors come together and make this image feel like a dream.

Some misinterpretations people could get from my avatar is that since there’s a carefree vibe to it I’m the type of person to jump into anything. This is definitely not the case with me, I actually think of multiple scenarios before I come to a conclusion when making decisions. People could interpret that I fail to see what reality really is since I’m too stuck in my own imagination. I’m aware that not everything in life is all sunshine but there’s still beauty to it. Through the way how the image sets a calm feeling people could misinterpret that I never get mad. I still get mad at times I just try my hardest to look on the bright side because staying mad doesn’t do anything beneficial.

My profile conveys that I’m a laid back, adventurous person that is just fascinated by what the world has to offer. Also that I have a very whimsical vision when it comes it imagination. This matters to me because it is part of my being. It shows that I’m approachable and have a lot of different views to what I see. I’m just eager to encounter more things in life and better myself as a person.

Urban Artifacts Phase #1

As we were searching for objects, I thought to myself, I did not want to pick up the usual cigarette filters or cups and bottles. I was searching for the unusual, hard to spot, weird looking objects. The first object ended up being the usual, plastic. It is geometric because it is circular even though it has a split on the side. The color is black and it was found on tillary street near a gate. The edges look as if it were torn off something, I can’t figure out exactly what though.

The second object surprised the eye in a funny way. It was a chicken bone, or so i hope it is one. It was funny because in my head I just imagine someone eating a chicken leg and just randomly throwing it out their window. This was also found on tillary street steps away from the first object. The shape is organic because it has curves, cracks, and dents. The color is more of a pale brown and black.

On gold street there was a gasoline station and I decided to walk around a car. The ground had alot of dirt and contruction dust with rocks of different colors, but yet i managed to find the next object. It was a rusty washer that was blending in well with the dirt. It has spots of brown and black on it, it is also a geometric shape because its circular.

Interpretation;

Based on Jingyis Avatar, i infer that she may consider herself a very funny, silly, and outgoing person. She may have chosen this particular avatar to reflect just that, as the character can be seen to have that type of personality. I also infer that this particular character may be from one of her favorite shows or movies, as it seems to have originated from an anime, based on the style the avatar is drawn.

After Reading Bio:

Based on Jingyis Bio, she is, matter of fact, a fan of anime, and aspires to make a career out of it. She also mentions she wishes to be a voice actor, which, after seeing her avatar, would probably give her choice of Avatar more sense.

Project #1 (Draft)

The way I see it is we are all put in this world for significant reasons. We all have different and unique talents. What we make of it is what matters the most. Whether we had hard times or not, we can all achieve what we want if we put our mind to it. The important thing is to do it the right way.

Art back then was not appreciated as much as it is now since it revolves us in many ways. Therefore I feel like there is more ambition to finally have a job we will enjoy for the rest of our lives. As a child learning to draw, I found it interesting how we are able to express ourselves with just a pencil and paper. Not only in drawing but also in writing poetry.

The reason I chose a lotus flower as my avatar is because it reminds me of myself. As most humans, my road here was very rough and bumpy. I say this because a lotus flower grows through thick heavy mud, which is what my obstacles were pretty much similar to mud. I find myself much more outgoing then before, but I am still a sprouting flower because I have alot more to learn.

My avatar might give that calm and down to earth feeling to some. Which I actually wish was really the case because I find myself trying to find calm time. I live a very rushed and fast pace life, surround by my family and noise all the time. I feel like you can see this in my art work because it is abstract but in a neatly matter. It just represents me trying to control the ciaos. I just use this as my unique way of being an artist.

ENG1101 Project #1 (Tyler)

Hi, my name is Tyler Santiago I am 18 years old, I am Puerto Rican but i was born and raised in New York. Sadly i do not know how to speak Spanish wish i did. I’m a very active and athletic person, my favorite sport is basketball but i also play a little bit of football and baseball for fun and I also play softball with my father on his team on Sundays. I am pretty tall my height is 6 feet 4 inches, my friends say I’m a funny guy and fun to be around. putting a smile on someones face or making a person laugh or even making them feel better makes me happy. I was born on April 13th, 1997, i have one older brother by 6 years he’s 24 years old. My family is pretty big. I’m into video games, hanging out with friends, and going to the movies. I like to listen to music, most types of music but mostly old school rap and r&b. I want to get into the advertisement business and i am looking forward for what i am going to learn and take in for these classes and hope it all pays off in the future.

My plan for my future if everything works out in college and i keep up and succeed and graduate is to become a advertising designer for a big company like Sony, Microsoft, or Samsung. It would be even better if i can get a job for one of my favorite gaming companies like Naughty Dog, or Ubisoft. I really hope this all works out for me though because it seems like a fun field to be in but a lot of work that I’m willing to do though. If this doesn’t work out I’m going to have to get a job with my brother doing construction and I’m really not trying to do that, I’m trying to be my own person and make a living for myself. i really don’t want too rely on anybody i hate asking people for favors. I also want to get into editing films,videos, and photos because that seems like a fun thing and useful thing to know for my future.

My profile will convey who i am, what i like to do, my interest, and contact information if any of my classmates has a question about the what was taught in class or about the homework and ill give them my best understanding of it and ill try my best to help with the homework if i understand it myself. On an academic standpoint its going to have all my work that was assigned to me and that is due for this class ENG1101 or COMD1100.

I shared in class most things about me but I left a few things out that I think are important for my personality. First of all pink is not my favorite color if that’s what you’re thinking from my profile picture. The reason why my picture is all pink is because i went on vacation to cancun this summer and I went with about 26 people friends and family and since my mother is a home based travel agent she makes these shirts which happened to be pink this year that has all her business information on it but that sums up why the picture is all pink because thats the way i edited the borders to match my shirt. But i love to travel its like my top favorite thing to do besides playing basketball. Ive been to so many places like Cancun Mexico, Florida, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and more and even more to come, the top 3 places i would love to visit is Australia, Japan, and England. Another thing about me is that i love to smile and laugh if I’m not doing one of those things you already know there is something wrong with me. But i hope thats basically everything if i remember anything ill add it but thats about all there is to know about me.

Project #1 Draft (Jingyi)

My name is Jingyi and I was born in China, came to US when I was 13 years old. I graduated from Midwood High School locates next to the Brooklyn College. During the time to make a final decision for the college that I had to enrolled to, I abnegated the Brooklyn College, and chosen City Tech. I love to draw the manga, to read manga, and to watch anime began from childhood. Even many years later, the passion for it never changed. I determined my future career must to be related to anime and design, such as animator, manga artist, graphic designer, and or the voice actress for anime only. Apparently, this would be the reason why I was chosen to enrolled to the City Tech, based on the name of the college, New York City College Of Technology, it obviously indicates they do teach a lot about computer usage which means it also includes the graphic design and animation courses.

The appearance of my avatar is a full shot of a Calico cat who’s acting in a humorous funny position. This is an anime Calico cat. He tightly stuck his face on the camera lens that taking a photo of him. He has a big eyes, small mouse, and a huge puffy face.

My avatar can be considerate in a few different ways. This is a picture from an anime named Natsume’s Book of Friends, which is one of my favorite anime with healing style. By observing the cat from my avatar, he is a Calico cat likes to do the stupid things, and usually fooling around and making trouble. He also likes to eat a lot and fall in sleep for a long time, day by day never reduced, the appetite leads to his body and face shapes become puffy as what you see how he looks like now. He is lazy, crazy, and comical, but he is also friendly, playful, and sensitive. Avatar, can be said that is my inner reflection. Calico cat stuck on the camera lens can be defined as he pursues to get closer to the others, wants to make friends, wants to help, and wants to encounter with more people.

My complete profile will convey who I am. What am I good at and bad at, what I don’t like and do like, what my career goal is, and what my hobby is. My overall life would never live without anime and manga. I’ll be glad if I got a chance to go to Japan, so I could visit the place where Japanese anime produced and met with those amazing manga artists. I wish I could visit there in the near future.
