After about approximately 3 hours of work time overall, I was able to finish my final animation for project #2. Overall im pretty satisfied with the final product, although i wish i couldve had more time to experiment with the Animatron program, and been able to learn how to use it better. I used the songs “Without Me” by Eminem, which is a very straight, staccato rap composition, and “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars, which is a more flowing legato composition.
This is my animation for my Staccato and Legato project. This project was an amazing experience for me. I used the song “Trap Queen” by Fetty wap and “2 am” by Adrain Marcel as the audio mash up.
It took about 2 to 3 hours. The two songs that I chose were Red Velvet – Dumb Dumb and Big Bang – If You. I chose Red Velvet – Dumb Dumb because of the Staccato beat and Big Bang – If You because of the rhythm is legato beat.
This is my Staccato / Legato project. It was an amazing experience for me to work on this project. What I liked the most about the project is we got to bring the thoughts and feelings to life as we listened to music. What we draw how was how we felt about the music we were listening to. Planning out the project took longer time than making it but I wasn’t surprised. I learned that from the last project. What I could have done better was scan the pictures with more appropriate dpi. In next project I will try to spend more time on creating the physical projects this way I can always go back fix the mistakes.
This is my Staccato and Legato sound visualization. We listened to staccato music and drew patterns that represent staccato. Staccato music are where each sound or note in the music is separated from each other and in a legato music the sound is in a smooth and flowing manner without any breaks throughout music.
This is my animation of my staccato and legato project. We cut each boxes into separate pictures in photoshop. Then we took the pictures into Animatron and used the separate pieces to turn it into an animation.
This is my animation for my staccato and legato drawings. I used two songs or sound tracks from the game Mario because the way my drawings look is digital sort of like a video game because of the types of shapes i have in my drawings.
Here is my project for animation. I used two songs that I listen to, Empire by Shakira and Mad Hatter by Melanie Martinez. It look me about 2 hours to complete the actual animation and plus 10 minutes in adding sound track.
*Something is wrong with Animatron, progress in fixing.
My Animation : Here
I enjoyed for working on this animation project. I learned to create an animation by using animatron and add sounds for it. The most challenging part in this project for me is the first step which is designed figures for legato and staccato, I create them in complex ways and it didn’t work well so I got restarted over in order to design other compositions. The easiest part is when I animated it. Animated was relaxing and fun, I can listen to music at the same time I do the animation part, thats why this is my favorite step for this project.
It took me about 1 hr to finish phase 3.

In this project, I learned how to make designs based on staccato and legato sounds. I have to say I struggled mostly with the staccato designs because my designs were way too complicated. What I did was refine of few of the staccato designs and made it more centered instead of all over the place. I also had a tough time picking staccato music since my earlier choices didn’t have much of an impact with the beat because of the instrument. Even though I came across some struggles, I had a lot of fun experimenting with this project. This project made me come up with designs I never knew I could come up with. Now as a final result I’ve created an animated mash up that has an African drumbeat mixed with a song called “Only You” by Winter Sonata. The time it took to complete this project was 5 hours and 30 minutes.

The purpose of identifying this juxtaposition is to observe how Duffield Street’s older buildings mesh with the rest of MetroTech by virtue of sharing a common set of New Yorkers.
Although Duffield Street represents an older New York than the MetroTech development, by occupying the same space, they attract a common set of New Yorkers who benefit from their diverse offerings.
