Wrestling Injuries In High School
Wrestling is a very competitive sport. It consists of using your hands ,feet and you can use your body as a weapon to defend yourself from any take downs.

Some setbacks in the sport are getting injured by another wrestler or hurting yourself from an overly aggressive move. Another big factor that may cause your fighting abilities to be stressed is fighting on an empty stomach. There are limitations that fighters must follow. In some fights some opponents tend to break these rules, leading to much  more serious injuries. The first rule wrestlers in High School all know is to wrestler in folkstyle, not in freestyle. The second rule is not to do dangerous moves of any style. For example Alex is an 18 year old student at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School. Alex was one of the captains of the Franklin D. Roosevelt wrestling team. He was a very hard worker who always came to practice and try to push his team to do better and give motivations before any match or tournament. They had a city tournament which was in Lincoln High School in Saturday February 5, 2019. It was a troubling day for his team because they had lost a great wrestler. Due to a move by Emir, a wrestler from Midwood High School,  Alex’s to broke his arm.

This picture shows what happened to the captain Alex at the end of the match (Alex’s  arm in the city tournament). He was such a great wrestler people were saying After Alex left the match and went to the hospital. This accident stopped him from wrestling in the state tournament. However Alex’s coach Daniel Michael, said that he will do his best to help Alex to get better so he can wrestle next year. Coach Daniel also said he had lost one of his best wrestlers this year.

As a CNN writer, I hope that arm accident won’t cause him to stop the sport. I also hoping to see Alex Mick next season doing much better and getting in shape and do very well after his injury. Alex had followed the wrestling rules, but his opponent did not follow them which caused the injury to Alex’s arm.

Spoken Word

Spoke Word: Still I Rise by Maya Angelou

In most cases, the genre of spoken word is used to express concern or outrage or passion or anger about a cause or issue that deserves attention. In my case, however, I am using spoken word to express something far less intense — but in my opinion, no less important: Patience.

Patience deserves attention, too. Here……

I chose spoken word as my genre to specifically write on and the impact it has on influence society as it takes on social issues.
For my example I chose Maya Angelou who is a renowned artist on so many social platforms. She often uses and is known for her poetry especially when performed in spoken word.
Maya Angelou has strong character and has often spoken on well-known social issues as they impact society. As society shifts from what is known for the norm of social issues I feel no matter what the issue she generally speaks strongly on one main social issues inequalities human beings face.
my thoughts are that artist utilize their platform to sway the listening audience in their way of thinking whether positive or negative and this brings awareness and sometimes adverse attention to the issues of inequalities.
Society on a whole at this moment continuously grow with issues of inequality ranging from not only racial issues, but gender inequalities, sexual preference and orientation are now the newly introduced struggles that society faces as some times they are integrated and sometimes stand alone.

UNIT 3 WORKSHEET 1 Note: the following are prompts to help you organize your work. Please make your answers clear and easy to read! Take all the space you need to answer the questions.

My general area of study is:

1. After doing some preliminary research, I am able to note below at least one argument / discussion / problem that surrounds my area of study:
Spoken word generally is vocalized and places emphasis on tone and body language. Very often we will see social issues being addressed in spoken word. What most commonly found is a very impactful social issue of hate in the world. Hate and ignorance around anything that people may not understand. Colorism, Race, sexual orientation and gender are examples of the social issues that spoken word is used to address.
2. The people or community of people most affected by this problem are…:
Spoken word can be seen as a catalyst and is used on all platforms whether on social media, used by artists that speak, sing, draw, paint to ignite and bring awareness to issues. This sometimes causes the issues to blow up sometimes positively or sometimes negatively.
3. Here are some key terms or phrases particularly associated with this issue. (For example, if your proposal is about hiking, you might use phrases like “manageable distances,” “maps,” “excursions,” “rough terrain,” “backpack,” “dehydration,” “survival in the elements,” “pathfinding,” et al.):
Key words you will often find is inequality, justice, hatred, sexism, racism, community distrust, hurt, struggle, discomfort, overcome, etc.

4. Here are the sources I have used so far to read about and otherwise learn about this issue. (Wikipedia, CNN, personal interviews, The New York Times, Psychology Today – whatever the source, please note it. Did you use the key terms you just listed, above, when you conducted your searches? If not, take some time and do so!):

Donald Murray — Reflection

1. How does Murray define writing? What is its purpose?
Murray basically defines writing as a process of rewriting in order to communicate what you want to be understood. Its purpose is to deliver a clear form of discovery, communication and understanding.
2. Talk about what Murray means when he uses terms like “discovery” and “ignorance.”
When he speaks of discovery I think he is speaking of the beginning of your writing, often associated with creative writers. However I feel it could be like a first draft or when your gathering your thoughts on paper and have not quite fine-tuned what should be in the writing. Discovery is putting a compilation of experience or experiences and thoughts together on which you elaborate on.
3. What is “product” vs. “process”?
In my opinion product is just when writing has went through its complete journey and you have arrived at the finished and final product. Process is the course that the writing goes through to arrive at the finished product. He makes mention of the steps writing goes through when it goes through the process. He listed them as prevision, vision and revision. Prevision is drawing from encounters, experiences, through things you may have done or through research findings, and even your surroundings. Vision is from your prevision and creating a discovery writing based on your prevision. Lastly, revision is the redeveloping and restructuring of your writings to make it stronger , and get your point across clearly and so that your writing is understandable.
4. What is “internal revision”? What is “external revision?”
Internal revision is when the audience is only the writer and you’re in the process of creating your first draft of your writing. External revision is based on their internal revision and all that the writer has written. The writer now conveys its writings to a broader audience. They have edited, proof read , and worked on their writing to ensure that all that had done in the earlier writings is communicated and understandable.
5. Explain, in your own words, what Murray means by the following: “content,” “form and structure,” “language.”
Content is all the information that we use in writing that may be derived from our day to day life, our experiences, or even the experience of others. Form and structure is the order in which we give our writing and determines the flow of the writing from start to finish. Language is what we use in writing from start to finish and can be changed over the course of revision and even when the tone has changed. It is the formation of the words we use , the order in which we use them.

LET FREEDOM RING (Revised)

Freedom for me is a natural and exclusive right which people have enjoyed since the day they were born. Freedom is not something that can be touched, seen, felt or reached. All this gives a vague idea about freedom. Can we define freedom? And do we really have it?

People all round the world with many backgrounds and/or cultures have different opinions, definitions and thoughts about the idea of freedom and what it means to them. Some people think freedom in political sense, others think about social freedom, and others talk about personal independence and religious freedom. But with all the different topics and opinions, one thing stands for sure, that everyone wants to be free in.

Freedom for many of us is the choice to live one’s life to do what one wants, live where one wants, to eat what you want and learn what one’s heart desires. Freedom is to pick and choose what religion to practice or who to marry or what college to go to. Clearly, freedom can apply to different aspects of life and is not an absolute term.

We have freedom to ensure honesty, self-awareness and respect and not just live free but for all societies define and practice freedom in their own respect. Different cultures around the world see their form freedom in their own light, and thus people living in different cultures around the world can enjoy freedom in ways that are appropriate and humanly correct.

Enjoying and practicing our freedom does not mean that we disregard the rights of others and live solely the way we feel right. We have to consider the rights and the feelings of people around us when living our freedom simple by respecting their rights. Similarly a free person does not have to fear or suffer discrimination when expressing their opinion, we all need to ensure that everyone feels safe and their feelings are not hurt. Societies which encourage freedom of opinion, thoughts, beliefs, expression, choice etc. are the ones where creative minds flourish and people are safe to express themselves.

Does freedom come with independence? I believe both freedom and independence is the same word because it’s toward the same cause. I believe freedom gives us the right to appreciate the enchanted beauty of nature around us. A person who is worried and anxious cannot be free at mind and hence cannot enjoy the scenic beauty all around us, the magnificent beauties of the nature, the incredible smells when walking thru a market place, or even enjoying the different types of music played around the world. Freedom is a state of your mind that implies that your mind and body is under no fear or compulsion of safety in life. I believe education or preaching does not make us free, yet it’s a stepping stone to commencing to freedom, to achieve following an idea of a person or an example of a master is not a sign of freedom either. I believe freedom is the absence of any pressure from the social, political and religious environment that we live in and to able to do what we think is correct.

I feel that freedom has certainly no particular definition or absolute meaning, because for everyone it would mean something different and unique. I believe that freedom, if not properly viewed or have some constraints, can be very harmful as well. For a prisoner, being out of the prison means freedom, but for non-prisoners, freedom is something that a person is free to do while abiding by social customs and law of the country. No societies or countries can guarantee absolute freedom to everyone. I believe the reason being that it will be a complete chaos if we try understanding what everyone in other countries or societies believe what freedom means to them. Freedom itself is not an absolute right, and it too has some constraints. A freedom that poses threat to the society and the nation we live in is not freedom in real sense. We cannot kill people, violate laws, smuggle drugs or doing anything illegal to the society and call it freedom. But then if crime is not freedom are we really constricting people to live a certain way?

I believe that freedom should be part of our basic rights as people. Some freedom is specific to the age group that we fall into. A child shall be free to play, to be loved by parents and family. This nurturing and bonding may be the idea of freedom to a child. Similarly to a teenager, freedom may be about hanging out with friends, enjoying group activities. The adults may enjoy social life, marriage and raising their children as part of their freedom. The elderly people may seek security of health and life, spend good time with grandchildren, involve in religious and social activities and believe that to be their freedom.

I truly believe freedom is far more than a concept. Deprivation of freedom itself can be harmful and toxic to people. So whatever freedom you have, try to make the most of it and enjoy that freedom. You never know when that freedom that you treasure and truly believe in might end or be changed and/or altered.

Think about your preferred surface

Maybe sharpen a pencil or two

Allowing your inspiration to surface

If you settle on paper

Use a pen or a pencil

Because paint may look a mess later

Maybe you choose a canvas

Then put away those sharp pencils

Because you can use paint at last

Has your inspiration showed up?

Maybe that is the case

Then let it guide you without a stop.
