This took me about an hour to plan everything out and 3 hours to get the final piece

Sound Visualization Phase 1
For this project i chose to use the song Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas. I chose this song because its the theme song to one of my favorite television shows and also because this song let me do both the legato and staccato drawings because it starts off nice and soothing then when the beat drops and you hear the drums is when you can get the staccato drawings and the legato when it switches back to the soothing rhythm.
ENG Project #2 Draft
There are always changes going on around us whether it be the people around us or the neighborhood we grew up in and that we know of. Change is definitely happening constantly in New York. Every corner you turn you see construction happening, they’re either building new houses, building complexes, fixing up roads, or even adding new businesses but there is always something being changed here in new york. I live I New York and I see a lot of changes going on by my neighborhood like they’re building a new mall by my house and fixing up the roads on the belt parkway/southern state. There are a lot of things that use to be here when I was younger and that are not here anymore. Another change people would notice are overlapping neighborhoods, like there could be a nice neighborhood then when you turn the corner the neighborhood could change in an instant and have run down houses and dirty streets, and even you can see a strip of stores and there could be a lot of little self owned businesses and then you see a nice big store that looks out of places that you wouldn’t expect would be there.
The place I chose for this project is a pretty good example of a store that looks out of place and shouldn’t or not expected to be in that spot. I chose a 99-cent store next to a jewelry store on the corner of Lawrence Street and Helen Keller Place. First you exit out the Namm building from the 300 Jay Street side and turn right. You keep going straight for 2 blocks until you reach Willoughby Street, once you get to Willoughby Street you turn left and cross the street and keep going straight until you reach a jewelry store called Giovanni’s Fine Jewelry and next to it is a 99 cent store called 99 cent City.
When I think of a jewelry store I think it would be next to nicer stores or more well known stores in a nicer neighborhood. This is because when people shop in more well known expensive stores those people shopping will be more attracted to the jewelry store. When you see the jewelry store next to this 99-cent store I think how does the jewelry store get business when both stores attract different types of customers. The 99 cent store attracts customers that look for cheap or inexpensive items to buy, and when I looked in the jewelry store the jewelry was no where near 99 cents. Unless the person is looking for a jewelry store to go to or looking for that jewelry store because its close to them then I don’t know why it would be next to a 99 cent store, and the neighbor hood didn’t look all that extraordinary where you think a jewelry store would be.
Project 2: Location

City Limits Summary
The First chapter of the novel The Colossus of New York by Colson Whitehead called “City Limits” is about the perception of how people see New York whether they aren’t from here either they moved here or just visiting and comparing them to how people would see New York if they are from here born and raised. He calls it being a true new Yorker. ” You are a New Yorker when what was there before is more real and solid than what is here now.” Basically he says that you’re a true New Yorker when you start to notice change in the Neighborhoods and not when what’s there now is all you know about. When you go to these places and you feel nostalgic and you have those memories, that’s when you know you’re a true New Yorker. Whitehead also states that everyone that visits New York makes their own sense or their own interpretation of what New York was like or how it looks like as soon as they take their first step in New York.
Monotony

We got this word today in COMD 1100. I didn’t understand what this word meant let alone how to pronounce it. Now that I know what the exact meaning of the word is I understand how it goes with the lesson we were learning today.
Project #2: Locations
For this project I chose to the modells on 94-11 Rockaway Blvd. To get to this location you exit out of the Namm building and turn right so you’ll be on 300 Jay street, then from there keep walking straight till you get to the A train, its not that hard to miss because theres a big area for just the A,C and F train and its surrounded by construction and you’ll see people coming in and out of the train. You’re going to want to take the A train heading towards Queens, NY, you then get on the train take it 9 stops going to Rockaway Blvd get off the train and head down the stairs once you are down the stairs you turn right and cross the street and first you’ll see a hotdog stand next to a PC Richards then walk straight across Rockaway Blvd and you’ll see a Dunkin Donuts Then you turn right and walk across Woodhaven Blvd you finally get to the Modells. Which use to be a movie theatre that I use to go to, it was actually the first movie theater i ever went to, so this area brings back memories of when i was younger.

Modularity

i found this word in the reading Universe Strikes Back by Helen Armstrong in the first paragraph i didn’t know what she meant by the word modularity and after reading it over then looking up the definition of the word i now understand what she meant by what she said.
