Project#3: Phase 2

Broad range

This is my broad image collage. This is image represents a broad range value because there is almost a neutral light to dark distribution in this image. The focus point in this image is my nose. The way the images is alligned kind of helps lead the viewer to the focus point. As you can there is a strong stable figure/ground relationship.

Narrow Low-Key Value range

This is my Narrow value range. This represents my Narrow low-key value range because there is mostly darkness in this image compared to the light, it also transition from dark to the little bit of light you see near the end of the right side of the image. The focul point in this image is the eyes. I put them in the central of my face and kind of stacked them to draw attention to themselves and kind if help lead the viewers eyes towards the focul point. This image has an unstable Ambiguous figure/ground relationship. There’s a lot going on with the collage in this image that makes it difficult for you to determine what is the figure and what is the ground.

Hokum

noun

1. out-and-out nonsense; bunkum
Dictionary.com

Bunkum: foolish talk/nonsense

I found this word in the article The Way We Live Now: 11-11-01 ; Lost and Found, in the sentence “That Canal Street used to be a canal. That Bryant Park used to be a reservoir. It’s all hokum. I’ve been to Canal Street, and the only time I ever saw a river flow through it was during the last water-main explosion.”

In this excerpt the author is trying to say how the “facts” about New York are just non sense or like foolish talk. To somebody that has never seen or experienced this history or facts about New York, basically all they’re listening to is hokum.

Urban Artifacts: Phase 1

Stable Image

I feel like you can interpret this photo how every you feel. The little tomato at the top means to me that something tragic had to a garden like a storm and that tomato was the only survivor. The grass looks like it’s about life to a new species of tomatoes that unfortunately got caught. The brighter tone and colors compliment this as it feels like a new saga is about to begin. They is a tone of open space in this photo to.

Stable Image

This picture I found very interesting because this look like something you see underwater. Deep in the ocean. The ruff sand texture at the bottom and the dead plants on the side gives me a aquatic feeling. The colors of the plants are very dark but are multi colored.

Ambiguous Image

You can tell by the way one tile is lighter than the other three means this street was worked on ages ago. The tile developed moss in the crack in the middle and the texture of it is very muddy looking. That also spots on from all the rain. A lot grey and square shapes compliment how they looks.

Ambiguous Image

Looks like it was hit by acid and all of its life was drained. You can the brown liquid just eating away at the material leaving crust all over it. While top part looks completely untouched. Meaning someone throw something on to the wall a long ago. This gives the picture lonely vibe combine with the lack on negative space compounds this. This looks like if no has been here for years.

Hours: Took about 2 hours to take pictures and write a story about the pictures.

New lab trip

The first photo is the new lab and second is the farm shelf that was on the second floor outside of the 3d printing room. I liked the farm shelf. You can easily grow plants here and instead of gardening you can use the farm shelf. You wouldn’t need to wait weeks to get plants transferred to the city. Also instead of paying, you can grow your own. It makes farming available wherever you are, like the city where farms don’t exist. They even grow faster than it would in fields. It is also small and does not take up many space.

Peoject#2: Sound Visualization Mashup-Phase 3

Animation

This anime is representing a mash up of two songs, Summertime and Feels Summer, both songs created by the artist Childish Gambino. The swirls are the Legato, they represent the long flowing manner of Childish Gambino’s voice in Feels like Summer. The circles and lines are the staccato. They represent the separated notes played by the repeated beats played summertime.
