As I have said in my unit 1 report, I would like to think that the teacher’s format they are teaching would in fact be useless. You can’t make a student follow a set of rules you can’t just hinder a person creativity. You have to let that person express his/her emotions. The teaching style that you have taught us has had a huge impact on my writing skills. You go in depth on one’s own writing techniques and you allow for the students to explore and express how she/he feels in this so-called writing piece. You have changed my opinion on writing because back when I was in high-school I never enjoyed writing it just never clicked with me, but once i stepped into your classroom a bright light pondered over my pale face. I knew this class was going to be something special. I started to enjoy writing I never saw it as a task I needed to finish just to get a grade. I saw it as an emotional outlet a place to vent and place to be free. I personally think that I will carry this writing style till my death because without it I won’t be able to express who I am.

Video games next big thing?
The reason I choose this topic is because I have always been inserted in gaming. It has changed and shaped me into who I am today It brings all sorts of entertainment into all kids and adults’ life. My assumptions is that video games are in fact the next big hit thing. There was a time when video games were seen as a waste of time. Teenage boys and girls sitting in their rooms for hours playing mindless games. This is no longer true and today we have eSports or professional video gaming. There are teens who are making a career out of playing video games. You probably never would have thought that you could play video games for a living, but in 2018 you can. In fact, you’ve been able to make a successful career out of professional video gaming for several years now. It’s called eSports and there are teams from all over the world and multi-million-dollar tournaments that take place all over the world. Professional gamers are available on a number of big name games like Dota 2(which is a multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Valve Corporation), Halo(which is a military science fiction first-person shooter video game), Counter-Strike: Global Offensive(which is a multiplayer first-person shooter video), FIFA(also known as FIFA Football or FIFA Soccer, is a series of association football video games or football simulator), and much more. These players make a living playing video games and they can win millions taking part in professional tournaments. In fact, many have sponsorship’s too and there are professional eSports Leagues too. Could you believe that, who knew that video games would be the next big thing. The barrier between virtual and physical worlds is getting thinner and thinner. In the past people relied on drawings and diagrams but now 3D objects can be printed from a computer and with virtual reality we can now step inside these 3D realities and explore. Headsets from Google VR and other headset design companies allow this technology to be used. First person shooter games allow players to step inside a new world and see exactly what is happening from their characters viewpoint. Games are no longer seen as being a geek thing to do and they are now part of mainstream culture. They can be found everywhere and on all devices. Just look at the explosion of mobile games and apps. Puzzle games, brain training, adventure, strategy, and more. Every possible category you can think of has games available. There will also be arguments that video games and their connection to violence is not a good thing and that it can’t have a positive impact, but players love video games and with the introductions of Virtual Reality players can now step inside different worlds and realities and explore and learn even more. You can travel the world with virtual reality video games and that really can’t be a bad thing. My opinion towards video games is mind boggling. I would have never imaged video games would have had such a big impact towards the world. Who knew that games that were meant as an object to pass time would turn into a lifestyle.

My audience would be parents. Parents shouldn’t worry about video games because it may in fact be the next big thing. Parents and children have different point of views towards video games. Children likes video games because they are fun and because they can be challenging. You have to solve problems, work out the best moves for your character, and decide how to use your equipment and supplies in the best possible way. Making all these decisions can be exciting and thrilling. Parents on the other hand worry about their children safety and health. Many worry that playing video games might have a bad effect on the way their child behaves. For example, if a video game has lots of fighting in it, they worry that playing it will encourage their child to be violent. They are concerned that their child might always choose to play video game instead of playing outside and getting exercise. Even though you sit still when you read a book, they know that kids can develop good reading skills and learn a lot. Many adults aren’t so sure that kids can learn anything educational from video games. I chose this genre because I wanted to express how gaming could be the next big thing. It is one of the characteristics that I am not afraid to share. I think this project turned out to be a solid piece. It shows how much I love video games and shows how deeply and engrossed I am in them. You parents that are reading this should not worry to much if your child is playing video games. Their have been studies showing that video games can help improve there coordination,problem-solving skills,enhances memory,and improves attention and concentration. Instead of telling your kids to stop playing you should encourage them to play more because they may be a video game pro.
Discourse Communities, Genres, and Rhetoric
To be honest I have never really thought about these types of writing genres/concepts before, But I can see how important they are. Discourse communities are apart of everyone’s life whether they like it or not. Its what changes you, Its what makes you different from everybody else. It gives you character and makes you special. A discourse community is a group of people involved in communicating about a particular topic, issue, or a particular field. Rhetoric is the art of persuasion. Along with grammar and logic, it is one that gives meaning to words you put on paper. Rhetoric is all around us today. Billboard ads, television commercials, newspaper ads,news stories, they all try to some degree sway our opinion or convince us to take some sort of action. Rhetoric in all actuality, shapes our lives. Everyday we have an array of options to do whether it be shopping or starting a community. Genre is a type of art characterized by a specific form, content, and style. For example, literature has many types of genres but the main ones are fiction,non-fiction and poetry. All of these genres have particular features and functions that distinguish them from one another. Theses are all useful concepts that can be used in a day to day life.

A genre that I feel like i know the most would be fiction.Fiction is something that has no limit its limitless.The reason I think I know fiction well is because I like to read a lot I like to read all types of genres but the genre I favor towards the most would be fiction. Fiction was my childhood,my mother would read to me all types of books like Harry potter, The lord of the rings,It changed my whole world it helped me explore things I never knew existed.The type of writer that I am,enjoys freedom I like to write whats on my mind and express my emotions though writing.It does help when theirs a format because it allows me to have a starting point and starting points is something i struggle with.Being able to be a free writer who explores all options and express how I feel is something I enjoy doing/writing,maybe that’s why i enjoy fiction so much.

It was around middle school, I was about 14 years old. I just came to this middle school because my parents moved from place to place. I had no friends no one knew me and everyone saw me as the new kid. So I decided to join a club. I was really good at basketball so I joined the basketball team. It was everything I dreamed of I made lots of new friends played many games and won many games. Everything was perfect in my life.

1) I start my research by narrowing down the information given to me. I then go on google or an other website to start my research. I then start to collect all my information into one place such as a word doc or power point.
2)I was told not to use Wikipedia but my high school English teacher. She wanted everything to come from your mind and not someone else’s.But i do enjoy using Wikipedia because it lets me find information that I never know existed.
3) I am more like Susan because she cant seem to find the right information to put into that essay. I am all over the place just like Susan and when I do finally find the right information I will use that information to the best of my ability.
