BARRY BONDS

BARRY BONDS SCANDAL

The Barry Bonds scandal has been a large story in the media for some time now. There are many reasons why I took this issue. One, I just wants to show how the government should sway their priorities from Barry to real issues that if not tended to can permanently alter our lives. I made a point to read about Barry Bonds and I want to see what others think about this. MLB needs to change its policies about steroids. Down in the reference page (1) is a website where it list the history of Barry Bonds from when he was born, to his hometown as well as his records in his baseball career. It provides his recognitions, awards received, honors and other appearances while still in MLB. Since his first draft, every statistic from batting, and other position is available to the end of his career. There is also statistics of what could make him the Hall of Fame from different reasons, but not having the award. Victor Conte (2) tells about the illegal drugs Barry Bonds took, how he feels responsible for all of the athletes who came under investigation as a result of the BALCO raid and offers his input on Bonds’ dramatic home run uptick and gaining significant weight in one offseason. The intended audience is everybody, directed to anyone who wants to know more about the problem of Barry Bonds.

In Barry Bonds’ biography (3), it begins to discuss Barry Bonds’ background story from where he was born to a brief summary of what he was known for. As it discusses his early career with baseball it leads to his fame. In his baseball career, he was breaking records from hitting to later in 2001 breaking the homerun records beating Mark McGwire when he reached 70 home runs. He first denies taking steroids, but began to capture attention after improving his home runs and hitting’s season after season. Investigations lead to search from Bonds’ trainer to his nutritionist. Although many lawsuits are amongst him, he still denies taking steroids and battles for his Hall of Fame.

This dispute of his suspected steroid use and how he has artificially broken Hank Aaron’s home run record has left the public in an uproar. It is true to say that steroids contributed greatly in Bonds’ successes.  First, Bonds performance as shown earlier on before 1998 was not the best and would only hit few records.  In addition to that, there is no evidence or prove that Bonds had not been using steroids since the MLB had not restricted it. MLB banned and tested for steroid usage starting from 2002. Secondly, it was after selecting Anderson as his supervisor that his prominence elevated. Bonds was also envious of other gurus like Sosa and McGwire who hit records through steroid usage which motivated him. That means, other baseball gurus concurrently used steroids to enhance their performance. Moreover, Bonds performance would be demurred as it appeared at his old age something that barely happened in other previous baseball players. In addition, much evidence on Bonds’ steroid usage were found after raiding Anderson’s’ home for instance calendars with the name ‘Barry’ and a note on payment of a blood.

In 2008, no team accepted a contract with Bonds meaning that his achievements were doubted and not clean.

Well, it is ashamed to heard about this, people like to use boosters to improve their self so they don’t need to force too much and succeed. It feel the same as selling drugs to get easy money or buying something instead of making it yourself, people look at this booster when they know that they are not performing well or because they get addictive to it. However, I think he deserved what he got and policies are policies.

BE HONEST!

BE HONEST!

This is my first semester in your class and you probably have a perspective of how I write, I would like to improve more my writing. I feel like I am still lacking in my writing that attracts the reader and forces them to read more. I find my writing in like a pattern and I know that isn’t engaging for a reader. There are many things I would like to fix about my writing. I’m not one of those students who love writing, I can’t write my whole life onto a paper. However, I find writing both a challenge and learning experience. It allows me to get information in my brain and forces me to express all that information in the form of comprehensive sentences. But when I get to a topic that I know about it that’s when I believe my best work comes from. I feel like I can have more improvement in my writing if I include more comprehensive vocabulary which will allow the reader to be more involved in the reading. But to be honest in this course I was able to see more improvement in my writing, I can’t complain that at all.

My audience is for those future baseball players that want to become professional like Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, David Ortiz, etc… It is the exactly the correct audience because they would be the one interested on my video. The video works more for my audience because it gives them proof and more details information about my why you should not use STEROIDS. My only issue was the recording part and my pronunciation of the words, noup, nobody helped me with this video. I would’ve been better if I interviewed Barry Bonds but unfortunately didn’t happened 🙁 I hope you enjoyed my video and thanks for watching it.

BASEBALL – BARRY BONDS

INTRO

There are many reasons why I have taken this issue. One, I just wants to show how the government should sway their priorities from Barry to real issues that if not tented to can permanently alter our lives. I have made a point to read about Barry Bonds and I have reflected on how should be read by anyone who cares about the America’s future. If such issues as this are to be the headlines then we are headed to our downfall. Changes to the government dealings have to be made and morals need to be reestablished.

In addition, much evidence on Bonds’ steroid usage were found after raiding Anderson’s’ home for instance calendars with the name ‘Barry’ and a note on payment of a blood. In 2008, no team accepted a contract with Bonds meaning that his achievements were doubted and not clean. Thus, were it not for the performance enhancing drugs, Bonds would not have attained such superb accomplishments.

Statement

Discourse Communities, Genres, and Rhetoric makes a lot of sense to me. Is a useful concept that everybody will do, see or probably do in their life. Discourse community is a major part of life, because it can help you to grow as a human being, and to learn a lot of things that can turn helpful to become successful in the future. Genres is an important topic to learn about. Genres has been manipulated greatly over the years and has been used to create a whole new scene of sub-genres, hybrids etc. Even though students are introduced to the concept of genres very early in school, I don’t remember all of them. Rhetoric was one of the main subjects of study in classical times, the art of persuasive speaking (rhetoric) is such an important skill in the academic environment. However, in general all these topics are very important we have always seen them we used them we have pass thru any of them, like discourse community, also, we have favorites genres etc.

Which ideas do you like?

My favorite idea is the game streaming. Streaming games online is nothing new. In fact, it’s been around for years now. The promise of being able to play a game on hardware hosted in a data center but have the display, audio, and input handled by something in your home has never really been realized. People asking if game streaming is a good career? The reasons for a “yes” answer will be that it can be a ton of fun. After all, you get to play video games, interact with fans, and grow a community. You also can potentially make a lot of money, just for playing games and being entertaining!

Genres

  1. I feel the genres that I know well are research papers/persuasive (non- fiction), tragedy, and romance. I learned them from being assigned the genres in high school to write about. The common rhetorical features of Research papers are that you are ultimately trying to persuade the audience to believe a specific argument or theory. For Tragedy, you want to make the piece emotional and leave the reader heartbroken or shocked in a way. For romance, the piece tends to be an emotional roller coaster, for example switching between happy and sad.
  2. I don’t really like a having a lot of freedom while writing because I feel like a start to get off topic really easily. I find it to help if I have a certain form to follow because it helps me understand the point of why I’m wring and also helps me stay on topic much easier than having a lot of freedom or flexibility.

Discourse Communities

The time I tried to join a discourse community was back to 2015 when I came to USA to study for the first time on high school. At that time my English wasn’t that good, so it was a little bit hard for me to meet new people, also at that time I was very good at sports such as soccer, basketball and ping pong I think that was the only way I make friend, they look at me playing sports. So, they were interested playing with me. Also, meeting people with the same language that I speak which is Spanish. Joining a Discourse community is a major part of life, because it can help you to grow as a human being, and to learn a lot of things that can turn helpful to become successful in the future.
