Sound Visualizations: Phase 1.

The song is smooth, but it has this deep wonderful piano sound then it gets louder, and deeper with the singing. The singing connects everything like a line. It gets deeper,  to the peak, then down and up. At certain points, the singing shows signs of getting deeper which also connects the softer points. Then it pulls a 180 with it concluding everything at the peak with it getting a little lower, then all out without overdoing it.

Even then, the deep, but smooth female voice is smooth enough without interfering with anything. The theme of the opening lyrics is equal to the strength of the singer’s singing. I can feel the images of each animation in my mind going along with the flow. The background music created from instruments also fits the flow of the song, and animation.

7-15 mins worked in total.

Urban Artifacts: Phase 3

The two pictures below were created by a dead bird, rock and scraps of metal. Now it was quite difficult figuring out how i would use these images and transform them in to ambiguous and stable drawings. But as you can see below I was able to work it out. Now it was easy making the images but what made it frustrating was tracing them on bristol. But it was a good experience because this project made me think and see how far my imagination can go to put what I see in my mind on paper.

It is like a slow motion intro with a lots of memories in it.  Then the rap hits in for more memory. The rap was cut in a sudden with soft sad voice continue with the lyrics  and repeat. It is like a smooth soft straight line at first, then the rap is like a hit that turns the line in a different direction. After the rap is ended, the line seem to be back on track with the smooth line. The lyrics was all repeating about seeing you again. This can be symbolize with a repeated image of a face.

When they look back at their pathway that they had been went through together, they saw their hard work and wanted to share the memories with each other when they meet each other again. It show that the songwriter is looking forward to being reunited with his friend. This part can be symbolize with footsteps on a pathway. As you going  in deep in the lyrics, it talk about one is wishing the other one to have the best. For example, like how he chose his way in the future, it will always lead him home.It shows that their friendship had been going hard even when one of them is not here anymore. This can be showing with a straight line, then split into many lines going different direction.

When I first listen to the song, I though was some kind of love song, but when you go deep in it, you found out that it was for memorial of Paul Walker that had been pass away. The song represent sadness after you know the story behind it.

See you again- Wiz Khalifa ft Charlie Puth

When the song starts, it has a very gentle beginning, which I symbolized with straight lines. It then quickly escalates into a bold beat that feels like hammers on stone. This jump is what intrigues me in this song. From then, there are also vocal choirs that give the whole song a spiritual sensation. The percussion used in the song also helps to keep listeners interested in what comes next.

Then there’s the actual rapper himself. When he starts, the words he uses tend to immediately grab your attention and pull you into the beat. This also makes it feel like he is radiating a wavelength of power. He then starts to synchronize with the beat of the soundtrack and completely engulf you in the sound, like a bubble.

Urban Artifacts: Phase 4

This project allowed me to test my skills, when it came to understanding obvious and ambiguous compositions. Next time I will definitely plan out what I want to do next time, so that everything will be more organized. The critique helped me acknowledge that there were things I could work on, but it also made it clear that my work had a lot of potential in it. In the next project I plan on putting more skills into my art, so that I get better with my art.

Urban Artifacts: Phase 4

Throughout the course of this first project, there were so many things that I could have done better on or simply just prevented. I didn’t have all of the required materials, and I definitely didn’t use my time wisely. Even though I didn’t perform my best, there’s still a lot that I got out of this project. For example, I learned how to use Photoshop on a more advanced level. In addition to this, I learned how important it is to pay attention to even the smallest of details. When it comes to figure ground relationships, there are several things that can alter the way a person sees the image. Even if you see it in a certain way, there is no way to say that another person will see it as well. Even filling in the figure a specific way can mess with the original image and what you see. Just having an outline of the image creates a somewhat weak figure ground relationship  but once the image is filled in properly, the image begins to pop out more so than usual. You have to be really careful when making either an ambiguous or obvious figure ground sketch. One of the main things that I’ve learned is that when rushing to get something done last minute, the work you produce isn’t as strong as it could have been. Time management is also a very important part of creating good pieces of art.

Urban Artifacts: Phase 3

In this part of the project, we had to choose two of our best pieces of work from the collection of photoshop images. One that best represents Obvious figure ground and one that represent ambiguous figure ground. All we had to do was trace the outline of the images that we had chosen to recreate, and then fill it in with the brush pen. The hardest part of this phase definitely had to be inking the figures. It was very time consuming but in the end it turned out to be worth the wait as the recreated images resemble its originals almost perfectly.
