Sound Visualization: Phase 3

Animation Mashup

I think this project was interesting because its the first time I made a video in Photoshop. I had some difficulties throughout this project, very challenging, however, I learned how to use timeline and adding audio in Photoshop. In the end of the video, I put some layers out of place because the music in the background sounds chaotic.

Sound Visualization: Phase 1

The song “Here Comes the Night” by Dj Snake and Mr. Hudson is a repetitive beats with mellow melody.  It talks about how an individual becomes really emotional, upset, and maybe a wreck when they’re partner leaves them. The person that left the individual brought joy them, however since they left, it feels as if there was nothing left for the individual and faces dark days. In the beginning of the song, the mood is relaxing and it feels as if your entering in another void. The individual is feeling a lot of pain and is in another world. It would sound like background music for a maze or a national geographic video for astronomy.

Throughout the chorus of this song, it has an uplifting moment, the rhythm get faster and has little changes ever second that comes on. This part relates to how the individual needs to uplift themselves and not look down. Then towards the end it slowly dies down and you could hear how it was being energetic to mellow. Each rhythm stops for a short mili-second, then picks up quickly. Towards the end, the rhythm slowly fades and echo out quietly, the individual faces the fact that they’re partner has left and need to move on.

Urban Artifacts: Phase 4

What I learn throughout this project is the meaning of the word ambiguous. Ambiguous means having an unclear or inexact interpretation. What I would have done better is pick different artifacts, I think it would have been more interesting than the original image in phase 1.  In this project, I learn to take time processing a phase, such as phase 2 where I change one of my ambiguous photo and added on to it, which I did in phase 3, and take others advice.

Phase 1: Discover / Phase 2: Define / Phase 3: Develop

Urban Artifacts: Phase 3

Phase 3 can be related to Phase 2 by shows a before and after composition. For instance, adding on to an image, reposition, and editing the image. We look at our image if it is really ambiguous or stable. This took about two and a half hours.

A link to our shared google maps:

The first object I found was the plastic cup on Jay Street, in front of the train station. The cup looked like it was from 7eleven, appeared new, it was geometric and the figure/ground relationship looked stable. The story behind this object would be the person must have thrown away his/her cup once he/she was done. The person did not decide to just throw it in the garbage, instead he/she littered. The second object, the cigarette looked old, small, and stepped on. This was located on Jay Streeet and Myrtle Premenade. It is organic and the figure/ground relationship seemed ambiguous. The person who had this cigarette was probably taking a smoke break and wanted to get out of work. The last object was the shredded paper, that was located in Johnson Street and Brooklyn Bridge Blvd. It shredded paper looked new, it was geometric and the figure/ground relationship was ambiguous. The story behind the shredded paper was it was probably  garabage and there was many of it. It was blown away from the wind and landed there.
