In the BRIC museum, I chose a piece by Majeed who is known for the colors of green with various collages. Majeed as a kind of speculative practice, one that appropriates the neo-colonizing tendencies of the digital realm and reimagines a kind of visual past-future-what would or should be-centered around the feminine. In the phrase above about Majeed tells the way his artwork is described. Umber expresses the use of digital photos and combines them with organic shapes and lines. The reason I chose this piece was for its radiant colors and its abstract dismemberment of a body. The pattern under the structure gives a sense of surrealism. These artworks of Umber are incompassed with this structure of a dismembered body.
