Institutions for the orphans, the poor, the elderlies, and people with disabilities are formed. During the 19th century, changes were occurring with the increasing of immigration, industrialization, and urbanization. It however led to poverty. Public assistance was needed.

Obama-Care also known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act’s mission is to aid the well-being of American by reforming the American health care system.

Technology can promote the well-being in professional development for human services by the use of programs that helps professionals with problem solving, counseling, crisis counseling, etc. Another way tech is use in human service professional development is the use of podcasting. It’s like a subscription of audio or video on human service worker trainings. Eventually these development is used to promote the well-being of clients.

Manage care is a procedure that is made to manage resources, and the service in the health care and mental health areas. It promotes the well-being of clients because clients also plan the services needed for themselves with the professional.

However, managed care limits the client’s services to the lowest level of care. The professional might consider hospitalization to improve one’s mental health, but the viewer might ask if the client can be treated at home. If a professional recommended the clients to see a therapist for six weeks, the managed care reviewer would say a month is good enough.

One thing happening internationally is immigration to different countries to improve their own well-being or the families. This led to many people that needed services in the human services field. Another is the increase of population in various developing countries which expanded the services needed for many people. Being a human service worker is not to help the client. It’s to empower the clients to help themselves. We can’t just give them the fish. We need to teach them to fish themselves. This way the well-being of the client would still be well even after the client got discharged.

The cultural competency promote well-being because the knowledge of different cultures is also part of professional development. HUS Chapter 9- Code of Ethics

The Human Services code of ethics initiates, guides and promotes a clinical arena for professional and clients well being. This code of ethics has rules that must be met by each professional and client. The code helps professional’s and clients be in a safe environment were neither of them feel threatened or uncomfortable. The code also helps keep a good professional relationship between the client and worker. It guides the professional on how to react and guide them through certain situations but with limitations. The code initiates the well being of both the professional and clients because it helps both feel in a comfortable environment.

The human service proffesionals responsibility to clients promotes well being because the proffesional is in charge of taking care of his/her client. With the good communication and relationship the proffesional and the client should have, the proffesional should be able to gain the clients trust. The proffessionals responsibility include keeping up with the client out of the office, providing high quality service and etc while also respecting the clients privacy. The proffesional should respect the clients privacy unless it is thought that the clients action may hurt themself and/or others. The proffesionals responsibility to the client promotes well being because the professional should do anything on their hands for the safety of the client; the clients satisfaction.

The Code of Ethics is a statement of ethical standards of behavior. It’s a guide to the professional on their roles, rules, responsibilities to their client, themselves employers, and the profession. Different types of profession in the human services field have different types of Code of Ethics. It could be similar but can have different wording and responsibilities even. For example, the Code of Professional Ethics for rehabilitation is different from the Ethics standards for Psychologists. The guides in the Code of Ethics give us an understanding of what is the purpose of their profession and how to carry it

The responsibility of the human service professional to the clients is really important. The responsibilities includes the knowledge of the profession’s code of ethics, and their standard of behavior. The responsibility of helping their clients to keep them alway from danger. Human Services professionals are also responsible to have a well knowledge of their client’s culture in making treatment plans, and problem defining to promote the well-being of the client. Another responsibility is that Professionals must “…protect the privacy and confidentiality except when such confidentiality would cause harm to the client or to others…” In other workers conservation with their clients are to be kept within each other unless if workers believes that in the safety of the client or others.

If the matter didn’t change the worker should report the behavior of the co-worker to the supervisor.

One responsibility is that professionals should extend up-to-date and useful ways to increase their professionals strengths to promote the client’s well-being. Another responsibility to the profession is that the workers recognize the breaking point of their professional knowledge and contribute actions within what they know and their skills to their clients.

The Code of Ethics also includes the human service professional’s responsibility to the worker themselves. One responsibility is to to committed to advance our own knowledge to serve the clients and society better. There are three statements in the Ethical Standards of Human Services Professionals that states the responsibilities of workers to their employers. Statement 32 states that worker should be truthfully commit to the tasks made from the employer. Statement 34 states that if any conflicts between the responsibilities to the clients or to the employer, both the employer and the worker must work together to resolve the issues and promote the well-being for the clients.

There are four stages of ethical decision making. Ethical decision making is when there isn’t a statement or code of ethics that can provide any action to a problem in the human services field. The stages are to resolve the conflict that doesn’t promote the well-being of the client/society. Stage one is to identify the problem. Stage two is to seek advice from your co-workers, supervisors, and experts. Stages three is to use the advice and explore the options. The last stage is to choose the way to resolve the problem or conflict.
