New Yorkers come together in times of need. Bill De Blasio expresses that he wants to keep the city safe using every tool to protect the people of our nation. De Blasio Talks About “The Tale Of Two Cities” (11:26-12:30) one city of the well privileged and the fact that even after a great depression their able to bounce back and life becomes much better for them whereas the other city of the less fortunate the under privileged, half of the city living on or near the poverty line. De Blasio as a New Yorker himself can relate and now how the people feel. Buying your way to happiness

In Sonja Lyubomirsky’s article, ” How to buy happiness she explains that happiness doesn’t come from being rich. Happiness comes from what your able to do with that money in a responsible  manner.Rich people tend to think their happier then the poorer person working  a 9-5 struggling. Having money opens the doors for various opportunities respect luxuries etc. Having all these opportunities individuals tend to think highly of themselves and think their much happier then a poor person just because of the money they possess. An individual can work long hours and able to enjoy the benefit’s, owning homes, cars, and yachts realizing you have all you’ve ever wanted yet your still miserable something’s missing. Money cannot satisfy every need nor bring happiness if your selfish. What if all you have is money then you’ll be miserable. The more money you possess the happier you assume you’ll be. A person can posses all the money in the world and still not be happy.Sonja reviews survey’s and collected data her research show people don’t spend money wisely. Materialistic idem’s are replaceable for example spending on a new watch you’ve had your eyes on for the past few weeks eventually you’ll get tired of it and become eager to replace it.Experiences leaves a bigger impact on and individual and the people they socialize themselves around, it grows on you and makes life more enjoyable. Good experiences help you grow as a person and is beneficial to your well-being and plays a big role in your happiness. Having money means you have the ability to contribute to others the ability to give back.

I Completely agree with the article the way you manage your money on who and what you spend it on plays a major role in your well-being and happiness as well as the individual around you . Experiences mean everything you can possess all the fortune in the world and still feel lonely, unmotivated, and miserable. Having money allows you to follow your dreams and meet your goals you have in life. Traveling the world meeting new people and being able to make a difference in their lives as well as your own. Giving back to your community, charities, assist in aiding people all can contribute to you happiness. In a way money can buy happiness it just all depends on how you spend, interact with others and your lifestyle.

When an individual i able to provide themselves with basic needs such  as food, clothing, and shelter their taking control. The interaction between the helper and the client is always professional and very important for the clients well- being and recovery in being a better person evolving in life. Can You Buy Your Way To Happiness

In  the article,” How to buy happiness” by Elizabeth Dunn and Michael Norton explains that the way you spend your money can have a huge impact on your happiness bad or good. Learning how to manage what you spend your money on and who can overall improve your happiness. If an individual were to find one million dollars they would instantly think of themselves. Human beings can be very selfish. People tend to think if they buy what they’ve been longing for, for example a home or a shirt that’s in trend that would make them happy but in reality it only satisfy’s for the moment.Just because you have unlimited money doesn’t mean you’ll be happy it will satisfy you only for the moment , rather than putting your money towards making a difference in someone’s life that will also make a difference in you as a person as well (beneficial to your well-being). Experiences can increase your happiness doing things with others traveling, buying things for someone studies show that spending a few dollars for another individual provides more happiness. Elizabeth Dunn and Michael Michael conduct an experiment with Starbucks gift cards to prove it  three different group of people  one group brought for themselves another gave away their gift cards and the last group brought for someone else. The group that ended up happier was the group who treated someone to  Starbucks.  Elizabeth and Michael Found a way to bring happiness out of money.  The environment you surround yourself in and how you conduct your life can improve your overall happiness.

Dominique Brunson Response to” How happy are you? A cesus wants to know” by John Tierney

The article, “How happy are? A census wants to know” by John Tierney is about a city named Somerville. The government wanted to try something new this year for the census. Somerville received a new question, On a scale from 1-10, how happy are you?. The government asked this question so they can measure one’s happiness. Psychologists and economists feel that to measure one’s happiness it should be monitored a different way reporting your feelings on a questionnaire isn’t as accurate it goes by the mood the person’s in at that point in time. Everyone has different preferences and perspectives when it comes to happiness, what make them happy and what satisfies them. Happiness has a lot to do with satisfaction whether in a community or individually. The government’s trying to figure out how happy people are so they can try and attempt to improve it, ” should we build more parks or highways? Should workers get longer coffee breaks or more vacation days?”.

More than 7,500 people responded and mailed back the survey without efficient answer’s whose to say the people of Somerville put in enough effort to take the survey serious. Happiness cannot truly be measured. A small thing such a height can effect one’s happiness, In response to the question, ” How satisfied are you with your life in general?”, One man gave himself only a 6 explaining ” I would like to be three inches taller and speak Quechua fluently”. Everyone have different meanings of it what may make one person happy may not make the next person happy,

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone wants to change the Somerville community for the better a  whole ,” Somerville is a great test tube for such a experiment”. Changing the community around making it a better environment overall to live can effect the people’s response’s to the survey and their happiness to a certain extent. Curtatone wants to be more involved in the community worried about the communities well- being as well as individuals. If you satisfy what people may want they’ll only be satisfied but for so long you have to find out what the people may need as a community ( fulfillment).

Trying to improve the community and be involved reassures the people of Somerville that thing can change. The things that are important in well-being would be love, happiness, satisfaction, family, & success .Everyone individually should live their lives to the fullest and focus on what make the happy as a person first before it can be on a community level. The survey is a great start in improving the community and promoting happiness.

Introduction Of Me

This was me heading prom truly a night to remember

This was me heading prom truly a night to remember

Hello everyone, My name is Dominique Brunson, I’m Trinidadian and American, I’m 18 years old I recently just celebrated my birthday on the first day of classes 08/28/2014 really enjoyed myself it was fun. I love to work out  whether its running 5 miles a day or sprinting on the track I also attend the gym to lift when I have time.I’m a very active person but some days I like to stay in an relax. I’m the type of person who loves to push myself to always do better and complete every goal I make for myself whether its hard or not I strive to get it done. I have one sibling her name is Sukanya she’s 9 year old.

I’m fresh out of High school I graduated from Murry Bergtraum High school on June,26,2014. High school was a great experience my senior year was the best I stayed involved in every activity because I knew that some of my friends were going away and I wouldn’t see them for a great deal of time. But what I will say the friends that I mad will definitely be in my life forever I value my friendships a great deal. Don’t get me wrong high school had its ups and down but I enjoyed those years it kind of shaped me into who I am today. I joined the cheerleading squad, dance squad, was a member of track and field & the softball team, managed ladies volleyball & the softball team. I’m very active when it comes to sports anything when it balls down to it.

Now that I’m a college student at, ” The New York City College Of Technology” I know it going to take some getting used to. One thing I absolutely hate is the ling wait for the elevators I have to come a hour early just to be to class on time. In City Tech you don’t see the same people everyday besides in your classes which is guest a complete different environment from high school it reassures me that I am moving on up in life and growing up evolving as a person. I love to meet new people and be involved  and find out what their all about its one of the reasons amongst many others that I choose to major in human services interacting with people being able to be their outlet, listening to them and giving feedback on it someday I hope to become a psychologist that’s my career goal.

When it comes down to writing I feel as if I’m a good writer but I want to be a great writer a very skilled writer. If I’m giving a topic to write about I can brainstorm a lot of ideas involving the topic and really break it down then begin to write. Being a good writer isn’t good enough for me in this class I hope to evolve more as a writer and gain better skills as well as more character in my writing and maybe work a little more on my grammar.

Happiness to me is loving yourself as well as others but you come first how can you spread love to someone else if you don’t love yourself?. Not letting certain things get to you, being a more open person staying involved, and reaching career goals because if you do what you love you’ll be happy
