Field Trip Response by Horacio Moller

This trip to the Brooklyn Bridge was my first and a very remarkable one. I have always drove through it, but walking most of it is a different experience. Its a well designed structure with breathtaking views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. I liked every bit of the bridge the only complain was the bicyclists. I think that they aren’t as polite as they should be with people walking.

The reason I think we took this trip was to keep us entertained rather then have been sitting in class. Also I believe it was meant for us to experience a monument that brooklyn has to offer. I am pleased you choose to take us and will be a memory that I won’t  forget.

I loved the field trip to the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a very innovative way to get people to socialize and get to know each other better. It also was a great way to make math fun for people who have such a difficult time getting into the whole notion of doing math.

CityTech Block: 1 min 25 sec = 78 sec

Brooklyn Bridge: 15min 22 sec = 922 sec

(320/78) x (x/922) – Cross Multiply

x = 3,925.3 feet

Field Trip Response by Alex Zhyk

Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge was a lot of fun because it was not only very refreshing due to the breeze it also let me remember the first time i walked across the bridge. The group was very social and diverse. Afcores the bikers where supper annoying and i almost kicked one of them over because he almost ran into me. The thing that struck me the most was the construction that is happening to the bridge. A couple of years back all the bridges in New York failed inspections and its good to see that they are doing something about it. After all it is a landmark. Its cool how we make math a lot funner then it actually is.

THIS STUPID PROGRAM WONT LET ME UPLOAD A PICTURE.

CityTech Block: 1 min 25 sec = 85 sec

Brooklyn Bridge: 15min 22 sec = 922 sec

(320/86) x (x/922) – Cross Multiply

x = 3,430 feet

Field Trip Response by Kiana Gardiner

Estimate the length ( wooden plank) to Brooklyn Bridge

A. City Tech block: 1 minute 31 seconds = 91 seconds

Lenth of Bridge: 30 minutes = 1800 seconds

B. (Distance walked/time taken) x (x/ length of bridge)

(320/91) x (x/1800)

x= 6,329 feet

                                                                 Hello, my name is Kiana Gardiner.  View 2011-09-1...jpg in slide showAlthough I am a New Yorker, this was my second time walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. I enjoyed looking at the various scenery such as the water, the Pier, and the structures of the buildings behind me. This was the perfect day to take a trip across the Brooklyn Bridge. The sun was shining so strong and bright, the sky was clear, and the air was humid.

        The construction of the bridge ruined the beauty of the bridge. I think we took this trip as a part of the class, so we could learn that everything involves mathematics in a way. Also, to learn that learning math is not jst about sitting in a classroom listening to the professor lecture, but can be fun as well. I learned that peaceful environments can soothe the mind as well as the body. I also learned that not only was this a good excercise, but it allowed me to meet new poeple.

Estimate the length of the Brooklyn Bridge: 6,329 feet

Field Trip Response by Jesse Mohammed

I think the field trip was a good experience. I’ve lived in New York all my life and I’ve never walked across the Brooklyn Bridge before, so I really enjoyed it. The weather was great and everyone was taking pictures of everything. The only thing that was annoying were the bike riders.

The main thing that stood out on the bridge was all the construction going on. It made it kind of difficult to see everything at one time. I believe that this trip was to use the information that we gathered with what we are learning in class. It made math very interesting.

CityTech Block: 1 min 25 sec = 85 sec

Brooklyn Bridge: 15min 22 sec = 922 sec

(320/86) x (x/922) – Cross Multiply

x = 3,430.7 feet
