BRIC Art Museum Reflection

The field trip to the museum was more interest and one of the best so far. During this field I got to see new piece of artwork include professor’s artwork that was display. Ā Meanwhile, looking at many new artwork I saw new things which new meaning. I really enjoy one artwork it was pictures of plants. The artist used photo plants as his/her display and it was interesting. Some images were blurring and others were expand. I believe the artist try to implied that no matter no big things get there is a new challenge that is unclear. Dreams might come small however, it expand every step you take. I believe that what the image was representing to me. Meanwhile, there we got to see professor’s piece but however, I was able to enjoy it much cause I couldn’t close the door. However, I enjoy the trip and hopefully there is more to come.

BRIC Art Center!

I have to say today I really had a wonderful time! This is the first time to visit a TV program studio(1ļ¼‰, really fantastic. Before, I just was confused about how do the TV programs work, but today I opened my eyes to see those tiny buttons and many fancy screens working. I think I sort of understand their process.
Those exhibitions are amazing too! Especially the art works that shows several human bodies (2)with animal heads. When I think about them, animals do something wild and cruel, actually people do the same thing as them. This is my opinion. I was so into this that I forgot to take the pic of the artist. Feeling sorry about it.
The most interesting thing is the “inside out” house!(3)My point is a bit different. I feel like it means, you are inside of the house, but your mind is outside. The sound system makes you think about not only the house, but also the whole world, because be inside, you can hear that water is flowing, birds are singing, I also feel the trees are shaking because of the gentle wind, like it really stand in front of my eyes. Sounds coming from different directions makes me feel like I’m walking in the forest. This is a pretty cool experience.

More on the Bric Field Trip

I felt a connection towards this more than the other work. Just being in front of it face to face, made me a little emotional.

Profspevack's work

i only took a pic of the drawings people heard inside it. It’s interesting how all of them are so different and what they heard.

My Drawing from what I heard ~

As I carefully listened, I mostly heard waterfalls at first and then it changed to the sound of rain. Also heard birds and crickets. But I didn’t really hear the bird as much.

Bric Field Trip :)

To be honest, I enjoyed this exhibit more than the Zine exhibit. It had a bunch of interesting and fun things to look at. I really connected with the chains that were hung up. That was the first thing I saw and felt the meaning. I was trying to read the info about it, but it was on the floor and it was sort of dirty. So I couldn’t read it that well. I like how it was shiny and beautfil with some huge rusted chains all tangled together. Sort of in a pattern I would say.

Anyway, as we went on with the tour, Ā I was intrigued with the new information I heard about the place, but I don’t know if I really be in that part of the department. But I was excited to be so close to that type technology and also the green screen! I don’t have much to say about it because like I said in the beginning of this paragraph, I wasn’t that into it. But it was an awesome experience.

Finally, went to see Professor Spevack’s work. I was stunned by the look of it inside & out. Sadly, I’m claustrophobic, so, I couldn’t experience staying in there in the dark and listen to the sounds more cleverly. But I got to go through it by having the door open with Professor Rosen. I was so calm with the door open because having it open helps me remember that I’m not sitting in a small space. I still got to listen carefully and was able to draw what I heard. I felt like I was in the middle of nature. Peaceful and calm.

This trip was amazing :) I can’t for the other ones in the future.

Field Trip Reflection

OurĀ field trip to the Center for Book Arts was very interesting and fun! It was a good way to learn about print making. It started out with us just looking around finding interesting pieces of art. Then this guy started talking to us about print making and bookĀ binding. It sounded like he was giving a lecture. He told us the history of everything and how it turned into what it is today. I saw how tedious it can be to print something. Ā Also I learned if you made a mistake when your printing it was very hard to undo it.Ā Now itĀ takes just a press on the keyboard to undo something.Ā Overall theĀ zine exhibit was very interesting. I found this nice magazine about your relationships with the train lines. It was so funny.Ā Then there was this piece about president Bush.Ā Then there was this spinning head mannequin lady. It looked so beautiful, you could literally tell that the person spent a lot of time making it. Ā After the Center of Book Arts we went to the Rubin Museum. We were looking at the Francesco Clemente exhibit. It was very different from the Center of Book Arts. It was quieter and cleaner. It felt more professional. At the exhibit I liked the piece called The Four Counters. Itā€™s a picture of a hand reaching out of water with stars at the background. Also the hand had the drawings of the world map on it. The countries weren’t Ā placed right because everything was scaled and placed wrong.Ā Francesco Clemente brought togetherĀ Eastern and Western traditions in his pieces.Ā I really liked the two field trips, I hope we have many more.

Our Trip, Center For Book Arts.

On our last course, we had a field trip which was really cool. Especially the Center for Book Arts! I really like the 30 feet long comic painting called Accretion Scroll, by Mike Estabrook which is super genius! It caught my attention at all. I’ve “read” it from the left to the right and I was trying to find out the order of his painting, but that was so hard. Standing in front of the work with a distance, the picture shows a clear contrast between black and white. When I stepped in, there’s really a mass! But when I watched it much closer, I noticed there are plenty of stories which are connected! It was like people are on the way working, or a corner of a supermarket, or a super great war place of a star war! This painting is so fabulous which makes me think of thousands of ideas, they just jump out of my mind!
Art works are always a good communicating tool to express what you want to say!IMG_2953

Field Trip!

IMG_3535

Last week Monday, our class field trip to the Center for Book Arts gave me an insight into the art or zines and print making. I was awestruck at all the illustrations I saw on the walls and on display. A lot of the zines came with personal stories that I was actually able to relate to. In the above image, the narrator talks about her experience going back to their old hometown and dealing with the harsh reality of gentrification. Ā This made me reflect on my own experiences with gentrification and I felt as though my feelings relatedly wholly to the narrator when they expressed anger towards themselves, and the situation going on.

After the Center for Book arts, we went to the Ruben museum to view the artwork of Francisco Cervelli. A lot of his works were a struggle for me to interpret as some images would be duplicated and have their colors swapped. For one piece, there were birds with arrows. When the color scheme was blue and gold, I felt as though it reprinted a death of pride. When the color scheme was red and white, I found elements of innocence. This just shows me how much detail goes into a piece to affect the viewers mind.

Field Trip (Book arts and Rubin Museum)

In English 1101 our First field trip we traveled to a museum and a exhibit by taking the R train. At first I thought the atmosphere was weird and kinda cluttered, But as I walked around and observed my surroundings I realized that this is a prime example of Not to judge a book by its cover. When I looked over many peoples work I felt the emotions that they felt while creating their zines and the message that they was sending. The artists really wanted to connect with others, and are everyday people like us. I honestly felt the tour was really short and brief I actually wanted more. While in the Rubin Museum I felt more comfortable and gained a lot more historical knowledge while In a better artists perspective. I would say the Rubin Museum really likes to show the roots of their origin or their foundation because I felt a very strong history lesson coming along while I see repeated pictures but with swapped or different colors, showing us a different meaning. The image i chosen was a lady with vines all around her. This image caught my eye immediately and I stared for a while because It reminded me about nature in a sense and it was overall very appealing to my interests in life. Overall I enjoyed it and hope to have more.
