View From My Window: Research

As I look out of my window the main thing anyone would notice is my neighbors house. From the view of the side of their house through my window, I can see one side of the slanted triangular roof. On the roof I can also see the chimney and a satellite. The roof is a gray color while the side of the house is a very light pink siding. I can also see three windows of their house. I can also see a short brick wall that separates the neighbors yard from mine. It’s not really a wall, but it’s also not really a gate. It’s probably just 3 feet tall. It can be easily jumped over. Being that the view from my window is the side of my neighbors house, I have a view of their drive way which has a cement ground. I can occasionally see either one of their cars or the cars of their children who are grown adults.

Moving away from my neighbors house, in the background I can see a huge pine cone tree. It’s in the yard next to my neighbors. That tree has been there since my family and I moved into this house, and I moved here when I was about 2 or 3! It has been there for ages. In the evening the sunset looks amazing with the tree in the picture. That’s pretty much all I see out of my window. It’s not really anything that changes everyday other than seeing a car in my neighbors driveway or it being empty. I can occasionally see a cat or squirrel walking along the brick wall, but that’s about it. I get the feeling that there’s a lot left to explore in the world outside of my window and there definitely is!

From the view of my window, the foreground of my window I see three straight line wires. In the middle ground of my window, I see a straight line street attaching with a vertical line street forming an L shape. In addition, some trees and grasses are planted on the streets. Furthermore, three houses are connecting each other, their roots are pyramid shape, and their bodies are rectangle cube. The background of my window I only can see the sky, because the middle ground trees are blocking my view.

The whole view from my window is like a colorful oil painting. Some trees are turning to orange and red, and some still remind fresh green. The sky is a light blue with light yellow sunlight and white cloud. In addition, the streets are gray but because they are attaching with the trees and grasses carrying a strong reflection. In the end, the house with different colors filling my window with more visual sense.

As I gather my thoughts on how to describe and draw the view of my window and apartment I first write down and study how the atmosphere first feels like. I live in a busy neighborhood with cars passing by and sirens. Although this occurs my view can be quite peaceful at times and has a good view of some trees. The trees has long medium-thick branches with several but now dying leaves ( due to changing seasons) now since the weather has been cooling down I see a lot of the winds movement by the shaky trees.

On the streets I see several parked cars all with slimmed outlines and small back seats. The buildings also like the cars are very bulky so when the sunrise comes off it reflects its shape very well. The view from my window enhances in the morning, making it the perfect spot to wake up to. So the whole street is reflected the the rising suns glaze along with the big open sky i can view.

While I was drawing “The View From My Window” and I was thinking of what I should write, I could not help but notice how many shapes I could recognize. Throughout the whole time I was sketching out my front yard, I was mainly using lines to draw everything. Than I began to make a lot of rectangles, and squares without even realizing. The gates that I can see from my window began to  look like they were just a series of rectangles. The only other recognizable shape in my sketch is the circle I used to create my bush that is in my yard. Lastly the lines that I can recognize would be in the street which is to resemble the traffic lines, and the two lines used for handles on the doors to the basement in the bottom left corner of the sketch.

I usually don’t look through my window and see what’s going on outside , but I come to realize that sometimes I should. So, I did ! I started to visualize what I see right through my window frame, and I found some interesting things that never catches my eye. I see a semi-tall tree right in front of my neighbor’s house which faces me. This tree has been there since the day I was born, and during the Spring time it blossoms beautiful small flowers. Not only do I see the tree, but I see the sky above it, which really makes my morning. It has  these weird multi-colors, that you seem like your in a different planet. It could become like this pink to purple color, and sometimes its this green and blue color. The clouds becomes weird looking shapes that blends in with the colors. These colors remind me a lot of galaxies in space. Sometimes, on that tree, I see birds that like to rest under the shadows of the leaves, and my neighbor throws bread so that they can eat. I think that is samaritan when it comes to animals, because they need food just like we do. Through this window frame it give me a aesthetic pleasure, because with my visualization and my imagination I see art.

Outside my window many sights are obscured by the many buildings that cuddle up against my building but in a way that is what makes it pretty inspiring. In the morning it isn’t much of a sight to behold but it does have a somewhat nice view of the freedom towers in the distance. However it is the night in which my apartment window is able to make an impact. When it becomes night the lights in Manhattan illuminate the sky and give me hope that with enough work I will be able to make it where no one in my family has gone before. The way the lights cut through the darkness reminds me of hope and how at the times in which it feels most hopeless there is a chance to make it. Light has an interesting effect in the darkness as it brings some visibility to shady figures but at the same time gives it a mysterious familiarity to it. When I see outside my window at night I see a dream and a possibility to make that dream come true.

From the view from my window, there are very few things that can be depicted. The building structure takes on a box shape where each of the buildings corners may represent a specific point. The view of the road from my window resemble contour lines- from the vantage point to the beginning of the road. The details in the cars on the road remind me of a continuous contour that brings out every aspect of the vehicle. As I looked out my window from new angles, it seems as if a whole new perspective has been created. At this angle I can witness the partnered colors of the white clouds in the baby blue sky.

Other point of views from my window reveal details such as birds and insects making their way into the trees and grass. As I rushed to sketch a pigeon resting on a branch, it took flight so I was left with pure imagination. Everything I could see from my window view further proved to me that everything is made of simple lines that create the shapes of a structure. It is the same concept that applies to everything people see out their window. Even the simple details such as lanes in the road which are made up of collected points that create a yellow line following the path of the street.

Taking a look out my window, I see nothing but the tops of scaffolding and the broken limbs of dying trees. It’s very hard to get a good perspective on what’s outside, when there’s only a dull ocean of blue paint with the wood shining out from the chips in the poor coat. It’s an awkward position, being low enough that all you can see is the tops of scaffolding, but high enough so the window isn’t covered by the sides of them. I see windows, from the opposing building as well as from the hospital across the street. the windows are bare, mostly, and give off all different types of light. I can see the terraces of far off neighbors, and the AC units of households trying to stay cool. The leaves and bark litter the top of the scaffolding like debris after a bad storm. The occasional animal scurries along, or flies by, but I haven’t seen human foot traffic in a long time. The sky above me is dark.. I work late and I’m up early.. I don’t get the chance to see a great sunrise or sunset. I’m working on thumbnails, but so far have scrapped a lot of potential ideas. Everything in the view from my window is all the same, generic. I’m hoping to find a new perspective, maybe from a different window – away from home.
