Assignment Day 14/15:
- MathZone: Assignment 5 – Factoring and Equation Solving (Days 14-15), due 10/27/11.
- Work on your group project!
TEXT: Intermediate Algebra by Miller, O’Neill and Hyde
Note: The problems assigned in the book below are NOT required and will not be collected. However, they are quite similar to the problems in the MathZone assignment for this section. They are a good resource if you wish to do additional problems for practice.
4.5 (Ex. 1-5) The Greatest Common Factor & Factoring by Grouping (pp. 354-358) | p. 360: 9-25 odd, 31-37 odd, 45-49 odd, 71 (G) |
4.6 (Ex. 1-9) Factoring Trinomials (pp. 362-371) | p. 373: 9-35 odd, 55-58 all, 87, 88, 91, 93, 94, 95 |
4.7 (Ex. 1-3) Factoring Binomials (pp. 376-377) | p. 383: 11-17 all, 59, 60, 95 (G), 96 (G) |
Factoring eventually I understood it
Factoring wasn’t a problem for me. It all clicked from when I did it in high school
Factoring can be complicated at times, but i guess its how you solve the problem. For instance, most problems you can break down step by step and then it would be much easier to solve.
