this is the art piece that I found in the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan. and I found this piece is similar to my project 3 composition because both were made out of uneven cut pieces.

These are the 5 pictures that I chose to work with And here is the 5 sketches for those picture that I’ve been working on

Finally, these are the 4 final pieces for this project. Only 4 because the one with the word UNIT was gone when I came back.

This project is by far the hardest in term of finding ideas at least for me because looking at the “starting point” to imagine the whole word with a specific typeface is really forced me to squeeze my brain to let my imagination does its job. The second hardest part of this project is the weather. As you notice, I started with 5 “starting point” and 5 sketches but I only have 4 of the “final phase” because this project was based on little things outside and we also have to come back so not everything stays the same when we came back. It’s also really cool outside at this time of the year but luckily, I’ve been a good boy this year so Mother Nature saved me by not raining or snowing when I was about to start to work outside. After this project and also looking at my classmates’ final, I learned that every little thing could turn into a typeface with a little bit of imagination. sometimes things are a little bit harder to see like my “PILL” piece when the “starting point” which is “P” is backward so I draw the rest of the typeface backward and flipped the image but I guess Openlab doesn’t like that so somehow its flipped my image back to the original. Finally, I also learned that if not because of the project please don’t go outside with a bag of chalk/charcoal trying to draw something in this kind of weather cause IT IS FREEZING.

this is my final composition. through this project, I learned how to mix and match between the lighter and the darker color along with resizing images. I also learned how to select and color area with similar color. In this composition, I’ve found the cleanup and coloring selected area to be the hardest but now I can do it easily.

I like violet because violet is so easy to the eyes. I  like it also because of how diverse it is and its capability of invoking both feminine and masculine. Based on my research of violet or more specifically lavender is the color of youth and vitality. It also has the historical use associated with the Christian fate as a symbol of Easter.

Project 2

this is the sketch of the pasta

on this one, I tried to have vertical lines along with the pasta and curve line for the dark area but then I realized it doesn’t work well with each other. the hardest part of this idea is that it is hard to make the lines look even.

this is my final inking with horizontal lines I used thicker inking pen for the dark part and also increase the intensity to make the dark darker. I used the thin inking pen for the lightest part and also space them out so it make the contrast more clear.

this is my final composition with text on this on I chose a san serif typeface with the dark area using bold and the lightest area using condensed / light version of the typeface I found this is really fun and the bold text really stand out compared to the rest.

this is the pencil sketch and I found out that coloring is wrong and it can’t have outlines

I really like this idea because it does show a clear difference between the darker and lighter area but on this one, the position of the dark and light area is incorrect.

this is the refined version of the same idea where I use lighter inking pen for the lighter part and thicker lines for the darker part. I also add dotted lines in one of the areas.

In the 21st human invented a lot of thing that once could never be imagined. They invented light bulb to clear the boundary of night and day, they make travel much faster and more efficient, they created flying bird to carry people to many places, they can even see and talk to each other on the other side of the globe and so on. By imagination and creativity. They were be able to transform useless materials like rock, trees into useful stuffs. But, pushing productivity too much create numerous problem. They created paper but they have to cut down trees, they created car for faster transportation but car accident is inevitable. That is why they invented a lot of symbol, drawing on the street to help reduce it. This is called “crosswalk”.
