Sean: Mobile App Concept

The mobile application I created is called Groupie and works as a location and information assistant for live events. Using the phones GPS, Groupie allows users to look up artists, venues, and even people to find out information on location, times, and amenities. The application will help to end confusion on where and when events will happen.

The Groupie application will help to connect people at live events by allowing users to find other users, artists, and also event amenities which are all searchable.

I want to create something that can be made to create unique things that can be used in film and movies.  This can help save money if we can make them through these methods.

Laser Cutting:
With laser cutting we can create things in photoshop and then transfer over to the laser cutter to create props and what not.  The video below is a tutorial of this:

3D Printing:
With 3D Printing we can create awesome props that will be efficient and cheap for any movie or film you want to do.  It can be used or a low budget film.

Body: I have decided to focus my topic on the idea of 3D Printing, the reason is that recently such an idea of making things based on designs and blueprints in impossible shapes in mere seconds to minutes are impressive. For the topics I have chosen they will be 3D Printing, 3D Scanner and Laser Cutting.

Topic 1: For topic 1 I have chosen to speak about is, 3D Printing what it explains about the process of creating and printing out the designs desired by the user. This video is an example to show how a 3D Printer works.

Topic 2: The topic I had in mind for this is about the 3D Scanner, the reason being that it can convert real life objects into 3D models that are scanned into the computer that can be used for computer program usage.

Topic 3: I wanted to choose something that is interesting in terms of rapid prototyping, this topic is about Laser Cutters. How they are used for manufacturing and the lines of cutting through hard materials which are used for creation.

Body: The two topic I selected deals with 3D Scanner and it’s a device that allows Ipads or mobile device to see and detect in three dimensional. The second topic I’ve chosen is a laser cutter.

Topic 2: The video below introduce a easy self assemble laser cutter as well as basic tutorial on it’s usage and the video allows you to see it in action. It’s a small laser cutter for hobbyist and simple stuff.

The mobile application I thought of is a game called Territory.  The game is basically a game where you move around your neighborhood, area and such to claim your virtual territory.  The more territory you control, the stronger you get in the world rankings.  The way to claim territory is to walk around territory that is not taken and claim it.  If another player enters the territory you try to claim, then you will have to battle for the territory using different methods.  To claim someone’s elses territory, you will have to battle them as well.

The game hopes to allow users to walk around the city while enjoying battling with people to see who can claim the most virtual territory and it it will allow players a reason to walk around the city and enjoy playing games.  I hope it will also let them meet new people to interact with and make some friends a long the way.

Functionality 1: territory challenge – go out and claim territory.

Functionality 2: free battle – you can battle with any of the games without staking territory.

Functionality 3: spectate – you can spectate any battle that is going on even if you are not in the territory.

Functionlity 4: clan war – team up with friends and allies to start clans and gain territory.  The territory will be different to single player territory.

Functionality 5: defender – defend your own territory when you are not online or help defend your friends single territory a slong as you are near them.

Functionality 6: All or Nothing – bet all of your territory in one showdown.  Other player has to bet all his territory as well for the battle to start.

Title:  Chase

Body:

  • Description: A mobile game that actually requires movement and depending on how fiercely the game is played or how competitive the player requires athletic ability etc. Like tag played by children in play ground the goal is for one player to get close to another player to transfer the role of Chaser and Chased.
  • The game is simply a mobile game that gets people to move around and explore areas while playing a rather advance version of tag like the kids back in elementary school except on a larger scale.
  • The app allows private game and public game. In a small group where people might know each other as oppose to playing with a stranger (because you have to admit it’s a little weird to be chasing a complete stranger down the street) they can set up a game with set number of players.
  • Real-Time GPS. GPS displays of each player varies between the role.
  • Have difference functions of rules which could be changed such as time-limit or choosing the setting of interface in the map or alarm setting, etc.
  • Able to detect nearby phones which could be change via setting
  • Alert all player if changes to roles were made
  • Messages to individual players or all players, etc.
