Project #4: reflection

After dong project # 4 I thought it was something interesting. It was something interesting to me because it made me discover things I never noticed before and it helped me learn a little of the area around the school and maybe to even give direction or how to guide someone if there lost. Maybe I can give someone direction now that I sort of know the street. In general It feels like I could’ve done a little more and made it a bit better but I tried not to focus more than one thing. I think if I would’ve planned out what I was going to do and write about it could of made better to understand. But I do think I need to improve a little more on my writing and organize my paragraphs. In general it was a pretty good project.

Project #4 The pitch: revised

We all know that New York is a big City but on the map it looks so small. However does  that mean we can never walk the the streets of New York.  Well if we take the time to explore our city and take a 10-15 minute walk on a nice beautiful day. Wouldn’t you want to discover something you never knew before and it was always there but never realized. Well I took the chance to walk and explore a little. I took a walk stating from court street train station to the end of my route which was jay street at City Tech college.

While I was walking I wanted to focus on the buildings architecture and the color that was chosen for the building. When I arrived to the court street train station I took a right and walked to Henry street I was not exactly sure where I was at but then I found my way. I didn’t really know there were stores on those side of the area I thought it was only about court street and Atlantic ave. Right in the corner of Henry street  looking the block it sort of look like a village hidden because it so quite around and not a lot people were there. They do have restaurants and clothing stores and couple of more stores.

But anyways after standing on the corner of Henry street I was not exactly sure where to go so I made a left and walked straight like 2-3 blocks down. While walking down those blocks there this one building that stood to me. I don’t know if it was because it looked different from the other building or because it was the only one the right side of the block. The architecture of the building or house looked so fancy it was constructed Ver nicely the design it had on it was very modern and the colors it had made it look even better. The way the windows and doors were made seemed like it made look fancy. It didn’t just look any other regular window. After that I cointinued walking down to Henry street and I reached joralome street and that is where I saw the three building lined up next to each other with different colors. The only reason it also stood out to me was because usually I don’t see something like on my regular walk mostly all the building are just made out of bricks and they look like a redish brownish. But the houses there was yellow, red and green. I thought it was pretty nice to see that because those where the only building that were colors on that block the rest where like a orange red color or a brown color.

After looking at that I continued walking and I reached Atlantic ave. I also realized it was another area where they had a lot of stores there was various restaurants, clothing store and markets. I walked like two block on Atlantic ave and I made a left on Clinton street. Then it went back to buildings where the nice quite area is. I walked a block on cliton street and made a right and walked down to court street. I made a two min stop right in front of Barnes and noble  and that’s where it got bit noisier and a bit crowded. I didn’t really mind because that’s one of the busiest streets there’s always car passing by and usually you would always see people walking there.

Then I walk to borough hall going back to the school passed the Supreme Court and kept walking down to Fulton street right at the corner where shake shack was at another place to have some food. I took the left side of Shake shack and reached pearl street from there you walk straight until you see a place where it looks like a dead end but it’s seems like a secret pathway. I never actually knew it was like a short cut. So took that short cut and walked to jay street and walked to City Tech college.

This walk was only about a 10-15 min walk. It was actually pretty nice outside when I took this walk and it took place during the afternoon it was still daylight. Sometimes when you actually take a walk not knowing where your going it can make it a interesting walk.  Because you can do cover something you never seen before and you can learn new places or areas or go to a neighborhood you never been to before in your Burroughs. It can soon become your new favorite place. So why not take a 5-10 min walk and walk around and see if you can find something that interests you.

project #4 the pitch:

The route will begin from court street train station in Brooklyn and the end point will be at city tech college on Jay street. It starts from court street train station walk towards Henry street where there’s a lot of stores which no one would notice because you can’t see them from a distance. Once your on Henry street you can then make a turn to the left and it will take you to resend street continue walking down Henry street and it goes to joralemon street keep walking straight down Henry street and until you reach Atlantic ave you made a left while you walk on Atlantic ave you see restaurants, stores, deli, and clothing stores. Walk on Atlantic ave until you reach Clinton street you make another left and walk straight like a block or two and make a right to Livingston street and court where there’s more stress and much more busier so you walk along court street to borough hall where the 4 and 5 train pass by and walk down borough hall until you reach the restaurant shake shack and you walk on the left side of the restaurant and now it’s pearl street then you make a left interlock and you walk through a little path  and make a left on Jay street and walk to city tech.

Even thought it sounds like a lot of turns or a bit confusing it would be a nice walk to take whenever you have 10-15 mins for yourself.  The first spot that stood out to me was one of the building I saw that look different than the others on the same block. It was much bigger and the Way it assaulted made it stand out more the color was a bit dark but it stood out the most to the building looks so fancy. Something about just stood out to me. I think it was just the way it looked and how it was built I said to myself wow I wish I can live there out of all the houses I saw. This was remsen street

The others place that stood out to me was on Henry street and jeralemon street it was a pretty long block with houses next to each other but what caught my eyes was the color of the buildings. They were some what different than each other. Most of the time you see buildings of the same style or the same color. Even thought most of them where sort of the same style the color made it look different and it looks nice when you see it at daylight because if you think about it when it’s dark you really can’t see the colors. It caught my attention because its something different from when I walk around my neighborhood.

Another place that stood out to me was building g on court street I Think it was the tallest building on the left side of court street I think McDonald’s is on that side. It stood ostoo out to me because I don’t think people realize that building is there unless if you look up and wander around like I did. I usually walk pass by like a couple of times and never noticed that building. It stand out to because it’s the tallest and it’s unique from the other building. It sort of looks like steps going up to the sky. The way it was formed was really interesting.

Most of the time as we are in a hurry to get to school or to work we never take some time and prayed to be like tourist and explore and learn about our surroundings. May be doing that already one day and just take a quick 10 min walk when the weather is nice out feels better. It’s actually worth talking the walk on a nice day I don’t think someone would want to be indoors of the weather is really nice outside. There’s a lot of things out there that you might not know its there but because we haven’t had time to pay attention to it as much as we do in our busy lives. Wouldn’t you want something that attracts you and interest you on your walk. you wouldn’t want to see the same buildings repeatedly it gets boring. I would be nice to see a building that was built differently than just bricks layered on top of each other and after all its just a tall flat building.

project #4

As you walk around the neighborhood you song just want to walk and just look at the ground and listen to music or just walk looking straight forward and see what is ahead of but you want to take time and explore a little more of your surrounding. You might want to focus on trees the figure of a true and how it’s different the size or how it was formed. We do t usually walk anywhere for any reason most of us probably walk a route where its more peacefully and very quite and there’s rarely people around. Some might walk a route where it’s less crowded and the most shortest walk especially cold weather like now. Others might like a route differently with a lot more crowded areas and more traffic it may be because they don’t want to get home so quick. But it’s different for everyone. But on my route I want to focus more on the architecture of a building and the colors.  It took me about 15-20 minutes for this walk because I was Wallington because I was waiting for my nextclassto start and I didn’t mind d the weather I like the cold.

Project 2

My Trip after school on my way home. Well my location is pretty far but for most of the time my location is either at home or at work. Where i work is probably a few miles away maybe like 3-4 miles away. As I leave school i walk out of the main entrance where almost everyone enters City Tech. Then I walk to the right where i believe is the court building pass jay street and walk pass the food stand and keep walking straight pass the Starbucks, pass the art store and keep walking straight and skip the train and just keep walking all the way straight until you reach Fulton mall. Where there’s a lot of stores. You see another Starbucks, i think a models, and right before you see those stores right when your walking towards Jay street and Fulton mall there’s a pizza shop right on the corner. From the pizza shop i make a turn on my right and walk down pearl street,  then walk like two blocks until you get to Boerum PL. Then make a left on Boerum PL and cross the street and stay on the left side. When i see a building with a painting on it that looks sort of like a map that shows the stops means im going the right way even though i wont get lost because i always walk that way.  So i keep walking along Boerum Pl and i see building that is under construction and it is the New York Transit Authority and in front of it is a bus stop its the B62 bus.  SO i keep walking straight like 3 block past this like daycare playground where i see little kids sometimes. On the last block before i make another turn there’s this really wide building i think that’s connect to another building. Its on Boerum PL and Atlantic Ave. So as i reach the end of Boerum PL and see Atlantic Ave i make another turn to the left and stay on the same side where the really wide building is at and its the Brooklyn Detention Complex. And right across the street from it there constructing another building. I walk the block till i reach the other end of the building and i now arrive to Smith street and Atlantic avenue. i cross the street where there’s a hotel and FedEx Office and cross the street so i can be on the opposite side of the FedEx office and walk just few steps and wait for the bus at the buss top that’s in front of  house and on the bottom is a science lab where little kids go and on the other side of the steps to the door of the house is a restaurant. Meanwhile i wait for the bus to get to work i just stand there waiting and watch the chaos of the traffic. once my bus arrives i get on and the bus goes all of Atlantic Ave and makes a turn on to 5th ave and i get off on Union street and 5th ave and walk to my job. which is not so far from my the bus stop i just walk a little.
