Project 4 part2

My alternative walk would start from High Street, Brooklyn Bridge  train station.  While coming out from the train station you’ll be facing from South side.  Looking to the South-West,  you’ll be noticing the two way streets and passed the two way street, you will be seeing Cadman Plaza Park . Go North to Middagah St and cross the intersection. Once crossing intersection, you enter Cadman Plaza Park and while facing the west side , you’ll be seeing  lots of Trees , grass ,benches and  also monuments. The first monuments that you will come across is from William Jay Gaynor, having the his history in-graved in the granite made monument. Walking past that side , the other side of the monument you be discovering the bronze sculpture of Gaynor  on a Granite pedestal. Moving on From the monument  heading to the south , you’ll be encountering a a two walkways that go in different directions, you are going to take the left walkway and walk straight ahead. While  strolling in the park , you’ll be seeing benches in that walkway and lined up trees. Passing through the walkway, you’ll be seeing  a glimpse of a large memorial  while heading to the south side of the park . Once you encounter with the memorial, you’ll be seeing a big limestone memorial that has an engraved comment  with 2 enormous statues, with one being a female and the other being male. despite the memorial , you’ll also be seeing a big field right in front of the memorial and benches surrounding the field.    Continuing the route walking straight ahead , you’ll be seeing the exit in font of you . Once exiting from the South side of the park, you are going to be viewing a three lane street in front of you in Tillary St . From there, you are going to to take a left toward the west side and walk straight forward until you reach to Jay St, . Once you reached to Jay street, you’re going to be crossing the street toward the south side and ultimately reaching to City Tech.  The walk from High Street to City tech will approximate take a extra 10 minutes compared to getting of from Jay Street Metro Tech.

Misanthrope

Misanthrope(noun):a person who hates or distrusts humankind

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/misanthrope

This word was located was found on the “The Happiest and Saddest Places in New York City, According to Twitter” article by Brian Merchant. This is located on the first page,8th paragraph, first sentence. Which states ” Having been to just about all of the above, I can attest that each is capable of turning the gentlest romantic into a misanthrope”.

When I came upon this word I had no clue as to what it meant. I thought it was an object but once I looked up the word it made sense that the word meant something negative. It meant that a person who is full of anger and hatred that tries to hurt others. So bring it back to the sentence” Having been to just about all of the above, I can attest that each is capable of turning the gentlest romantic into a misanthrope” this was referred to that word because since it’s some place that people go to it can also could be made into a negative place where people wouldn’t want to go to anymore.

Project 4

The route I’m going to be covering is the route I take everyday to get to city tech. I Take the 7 express sometimes local train all the way to 74st if its local or if its express to 5 ave and I walk to the F. I get out at Jay street and metro tech. I walk up and I start my walk to school on the left side of the street I walk past by this building I don’t know what is it or for in front of this building there are benches to sit on that are circular around trees. Walking a little bit more down I see food carts such as Nathans halal food I believe and people selling things.Slowly after I past these things I hit the courthouse and then I cross the street and I hit city tech and go inside. On the way to school I only cross the street once and wait for one light. My walk isn’t interesting nor do I pay attention to my surroundings cause I’m caught up with my music blasting through my headphones or not I’m tired I just want to be in and out of school.

Calming and Beautiful Route

The calming route is one of the best routes to take when going to school in my opinion. When your day is just getting started its easier to shift from a calming mood to a getting things done mood than going from an annoyed mood to a good one. This route starts after you exit the two and five train station at Borough Hall and you enter Columbus. Once you exit the train station you see on your left the Supreme Court and on your right there’s a TD bank. You would continue walking straight and there are trees on both sides of you, in front of those trees are benches. Straight ahead you see the Henry Ward Beecher statute, when you reach up to the statute you make a right as you cross the street, the street is usually vacant. Then you reach Johnson street and cross the street straight ahead and walk straight until you reach City Tech. This walk is the most calming walk to me because you have the trees and the nice view while walking along with everything not really busy. Its also a calming route because, you aren’t trying to get around a bunch of people so your just moving at your own pace. This walk is about 3-5 minutes longer than other routes when leaving the Borough Hall train station. Depending on your pace which includes the factor of walking up an inclined plane, because the area is not a flat surface your time may vary. Although the walk is not a big time difference the time and energy it takes to walk up the inclined park is more peaceful than some of the other routes. In the afternoon it is peaceful aswell but there are more people and a food market is held in the middle of the park. The most peaceful time to enjoy this route is in the morning, you will still get a positive vibe but the silence in the morning allows more of self reflection vibe.

Project #4 Part 2

When I commute to school there is only one way I take. I quite often am late so I need to most fast and efficient way of getting to Jay Street Metrotech to City Tech. First of all, I always leave through the A, C, F, exit. This is not only the closest to the school, but also the most direct exit that the station has. I then walk by the “balanced cylinders”, although I don’t pay much attention to them. I walk under the scaffolding, then cross the street to the corner where the new City Tech building is under construction. It’s most efficient to cross the street here first because there are no cars that travel down Tech street. Instead of waiting for two lights, I wait for one. It’s the fastest way to school.

Project #4 Part 1

In project #4, I’m going to be covering my route from the Jay Street Station to City Tech. It’s the route I take practically everyday, and since I have multiple activities after school, I usually take different routes. The most important route is for when I need to get to school quickly. I wake up very late so it’s imperative that I have a fast route to get to school on time. So I tend to avoid people, construction, crossing the street, and crowded areas. The only landmark I have between the train station and City Tech is the balanced cylinders in front of starbucks.

Project #4 part 2

Getting off the number 5 train,  you would need to walk up Cadman Plz W. While walking up Cadman Plz you are going to see many trees and also have a chance to a monument dedicated to the Korean War veterans. Compared to the strait forward walk, this new detour will take about 7 minutes compared to the 5 min walk from the F train. I usually take the F train in the morning but for the detour I would have to take a different train in the morning. The amount if time in the trains would be the same, without counting the train delays.

During the walk, you are able to see the tress having different color leaves, cars passing by, and kids headed to school. In my morning walk to school I like to listen to music and enjoy  a nice hot cup of coffee. I like listening to my music pretty loud because many cars pass by and they make a lot of noise. Listening to loud music zones me out of the city and I am able to enjoy the little nature that near our school.

Project 4

The routes I choose to go through everyday to get to school are familiar for everyone. I take a bus and two trains which are Q27, 7 Train, and F train. This is the easiest and quickest route to get to school. When you’re in flushing to take the 7 train, you see a lot of delis, restaurants, and small shopping malls/places. When you go to city tech, you can see a lot of different restaurants and shopping places. You can also see NYU Engineering school and NYU has a little park where people would rest and there are fast food restaurants in the park.

Different routes

Using first hand investigation I found three different routes to get to city tech. Though they all include the same beginning which is the B 41 on Church Avenue and Flatbush Avenue. One route was to take the but to the last stop on Cadman Plaza and Johnson Street where i could walk straight down and that’s a calm and quiet route and you’ll make the left turn to the entrance. Or you could come off at Livingston Avenue and Smith street, which is a more busy and crowded route that turns into Jay street. The last route is to get off the B 41 at court street and walk past shake shack and the food areas but that area is a little more busy because of all the restaurants in the area.

Project 4 Part 2

When I am on my way to school in the morning the easiest and fastest way is to take the F train and get off at Willoughby street but on my way home later the York Street Station entrance is the path where there is less people and I can look at the the Manhattan Bridge on Sands Street after I pass the Voorhees Building and then as I continue to walk towards the Brooklyn Queens Expressway there is the “YES” murals. One is designed in black and white paint and then across the street is the one that we have for our class Openlab background.
