Article: “Remote Learning? In Person? Families Second- Guess Their School Choices as Covid Cases Rise.” https://www.wsj.com/articles/remote-learning-in-person-families-second-guess-their-school-choices-as-covid-cases-rise-11604425081

My concept was to showcase a news report on a laptop with a news anchor announcing “breaking news” about what you see on his right is a line graph of covid cases rising. I also included an apple, a baseball, and pen to indicate the person in front the laptop is a kid student with their parent or any student in general that would be watching this news report and realize that they’re in for another lockdown and online learning. My color palettes are red, blue, and brown. I wanted my focal point to be the laptop screen. By doing this, I added a blue light that is appearing from the screen which is casting light on everything in front of it such as the apple, baseball, pen and table.

These two articles focus on remote learning which has become a new virtual lifestyle to us since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first article surrounds itself around a mother of a second and fourth grader whose elementary school will reopen in Denver, Colorado for in-person learning in late October. The mother decides she will send her kids back to school, but as a second wave of coronavirus cases are rising, she changes her mind and stays virtual. The second article focuses on the benefits of remote learning that have impacted high school students. Students tend to have succeeded more in their classes than they would in an in-classroom environment. Students were able to work in their pace without feeling challenged by their school schedules and not be distracted by their peers. Also students who were victims of physical or verbal bullying in school are now more likely to be relieved to be in a safe place, their home.
