STRUCTURE:

This course will consist of weekly ZOOM class sessions, with all course materials such as Lectures, Discussions and Readings right here on the Openlab. You’ll use this site to participate in weekly discussions, request feedback on work, and to post your assignments.

To make the most of our time together and for general politeness, you are expected to have phones and social media turned off during class. You’ll be given at least one break during class, so you’ll have your chance to reconnect then.

Zoom class sessions will usually take the following structure:

Warm Up

  • Ice breaker or Drawing Game

Discussion

  • Reflect on the previous week’s online discussion topic. (ASYNCHRONOUS)

Sketchbook

  • Share weekly sketchbook exercises. (ASYNCHRONOUS)

Lectures & Demos

  • Lectures will be recorded and are also available for Download (LINK in CLASS AGENDA)

Critique

Each week, you’ll have the chance to receive peer and instructor feedback on assignment during our class time. Be prepared to screen-share your assignments.

Lab Time

Each week, you’ll have the chance to work on your assignment during our class time. We will break into small groups on zoom using break out rooms.

Students should be prepared to share their class work REAL TIME.

Students who are working digitally can simply share their screens. Students who are working traditionally should be prepared to photograph / or scan and upload their work during class. This allows for drawing and compositional feedback.

Work in Progress

WRAP UP FOR THE DAY: Each group should write one post with images of the classwork of each of their members at the end of the session. You can use the last 10 minutes of class to do this wrap-up each week.

Title the post like this, “Week 1, Group A Class Work” It should be carefully labeled with the names of each member and a description of what was worked on. Categorize your post: Student Posts> Work in Progress

This will allow for further feedback on your classwork from your instructor.
