Patrick Rogers – Sketchbook, Week 3, Artist Selfies

For my Artist Selfies sketchbook exercise, I went in a sci-fi/fantasy direction. In the first one, I struck an action pose in the photo, and then drew it with futuristic armor over the figure, and a blade coming out of a piece of the armor, as if the figure were about to enter battle. I tried to make the armor more stylized, to make the composition more interesting. In the second selfie, I scrunched up my nose to bare my teeth, and in the drawing version of it I tried to make the figure look like a vampire, by elongating its teeth. In the third selfie, I tried to pose in a simple portrait position, so that in the drawing I could focus on adding little metal spikes growing out of the figure’s skin. That one is meant to look like a superhero figure.

Patrick Rogers – Assignment 1, Part 2

Pagan Pineapple, my ice cream flavor, features illustrations around the idea of witches on a beach, which is meant to be quite playful. In one concept, one witch is standing on a beach. In another concept a witch is eating ice cream out of a pineapple on a beach. And in my favorite concept, a group of witches are riding their brooms over a beach as they eat ice cream out of pineapples.
