For my Artist Selfies sketchbook exercise, I went in a sci-fi/fantasy direction. In the first one, I struck an action pose in the photo, and then drew it with futuristic armor over the figure, and a blade coming out of a piece of the armor, as if the figure were about to enter battle. I tried to make the armor more stylized, to make the composition more interesting. In the second selfie, I scrunched up my nose to bare my teeth, and in the drawing version of it I tried to make the figure look like a vampire, by elongating its teeth. In the third selfie, I tried to pose in a simple portrait position, so that in the drawing I could focus on adding little metal spikes growing out of the figure’s skin. That one is meant to look like a superhero figure.

I enjoy drawing still lifes, ornate shapes, and faces. I find faces to be challenging though I must add. Shapes are helpful to draw for my fashion design process, and drawing a still life with a pineapple in it could be useful for Assignment 1 in this class.
