MAT 1275—College Algebra and Trigonometry
- Syllabus
- Generic rubric
- Assignments
- Introduce yourself – Students write short introductions and share on the OpenLab.
- Test review assignment – Students choose one test review question each and share their solution on the OpenLab. Together, the class produces a complete review sheet.
- Test solutions assignment– Students choose one actual test question each and share their solution on the OpenLab. Together, the class produces a complete test solution set.
- Desmos activity– Introduction to trigonometry – Students are walked through an introduction to the graphs of sine and cosine in this interactive web-based activity.
- Extra credit – math memes – Students create and share their own memes about math.
- Final exam review (uniform)
MAT 1475H—Honors Calculus I
- Syllabus
- Assignments
- Group project – Applications of derivatives – Students work in groups to describe an application of the derivative and create posters of their work.
- Extra credit – extra topics and mathematical journeys – Students choose between creating a lesson on a topic that is outside the scope of the course or to write a personal essay about their own mathematical journeys.
- Final exam
MAT 2440—Discrete Structures and Algorithms I
- Syllabus
- Assignment
- Group project – code breaking – Students work in pairs to decide on a caesar cypher. They share encrypted messages with their partners on the OpenLab while their classmates try to break their codes.
- Final exam
MAT 2680—Differential Equations
- Syllabus
- Assignments
- Group project – applications of first order ODE’s – Students choose one homework question each to solve a real-world problem using differential equations.
- Final exam – topic guess and review assignment – Students submit guesses for final exam topics and then choose one question each from their assigned topic to solve and share on the OpenLab. Together, the class produces a complete review sheet.
