In this week’s study group session, you will practice giving a HOT topic presentation to your group.

Present
Choose one of your HOT topic portfolio questions to present (this may be one that you’ve already presented during your HOT topic presentation or it might be a new question). Give the presentation to your group as if you were giving it to your professor.
Your group’s job is to pretend to be the professor while you present. When you are pretending to be the professor when your group-mate presents, you need to take an active role. Do your best to interrupt with comments and questions! What questions might I ask the presenter? What steps have they skipped that they need to fill in? Have they sufficiently explained each of their steps? Be as annoying as possible! (Group members can jump in if the presenter is struggling to answer a question.)
Discuss
- After each person has presented, let them know whether you think their presentation earned an H, an O, or a T. What did you like about the presentation? What improvements can you suggest?
- After everyone has presented, have a conversation about how you each prepare for your presentations. What ideas can you steal from your group-mates to improve your own preparation? What did your group think was key to preparing to give a strong HOT topic presentation? Write a short guide for preparing for HOT topic presentations.
