My name is Pamela Santana and i am 18 years old. Many people call me pam for short. I graduated from Dewitt Clinton High School last june which is located in the Bronx. I am currently a Freshman at City tech. Even though I go to school in Brooklyn i was born and raised in the Bronx. City Tech is very far from my home but I chose to attend this college because I thought it would be better for me. I’m a Hospitality management major and I am hoping that I enjoy taking the required courses for this major during this year. I am hoping to do extremely well my first year in City tech so that I am able to transfer by next. I have been working really hard in my classes.

At first i could not think of what my avatar could be, but then I decided it should be something that i really enjoy. That is why i chose to pick a ballerina icon as my avatar. Since I love to dance and I have taken ballet classes since I was a child this would be a great pick for my avatar. It is something that I am very passionate about and would like to show on my profile.

My avatar could be interpreted differently because people might not take me as serious. Since dancing is not something that many people would actually take serious. I still decided to go ahead and use this avatar because it is something that represents me in the best way possible and is important to me.

I believe that my profile would convey that I am a hard worker and interesting person. Since in my bio I included how I am trying my hardest in my classes. Since my avatar is of a ballerina and they are such hard workers I would expect people to think this. Also, my opinion dancing is very interesting so maybe others would see it this way. What my profile convey is very important to me because I would not want people to interpret me the wrong way. I hope that it will actually convey what I expect it to.

I am Ryan Yip. My hobbies include videogames, anime, and video editing. I have been absent in the anime community, but I do watch some on occasion. I play games on both console and PC, but I do not own an xbox. I prefer console gaming because a controller feels more comfortable than a keyboard and mouse. I also record some games I play and post them on youtube. I do a lot of video editing to make the best video that I can produce at my skill level. On youtube I am known as LeafsShadow. My youtube channel is filled with videos that I did just for the fun of it. I treat it as a hobby, because I don’t want to take youtube of all things seriously. Here you can watch me play videogames with commentary. At the moment I am making videos with a Pokemon Colosseum commentary walkthrough (yes that is how they spelled it in the title of the game) and Vindictus videos that I do on public games. I am very new to making youtube content, but it is a new experience for me and I like it. I upload videos when I have a video to upload. I honestly hate taking things seriously. That’s why I hate playing “Call of Duty” and other games that people take seriously. I like games where I can mess around and do what I think is fun.

My avatar is my character on Maple Story.  I could not find a picture of my character because I uninstalled the game, but I managed to find a close match to use as my avatar. He is an archer from a town called Henesys on Maple Island. He uses a bow and arrows as his weapon to hunt and go on adventures with. He becomes high maintenance after you realize that the price of arrows are fairly high and how they are a necessity to his attacks, but that becomes irrelevant later in the game, because enemies start dropping arrows around the mid-game.

I chose him because he is a character I have built in the Maple world. I have put time and effort made him to be great character. There’s no one better to represent me then a character I made.  He enjoys adventuring, but hates being around other people. He tries to make to sell anything he comes across in his adventures including mushroom caps and whatever else he can get from the local wildlife. He is a skilled archer that can apparently cause an arrow to pierce threw enemies hitting multiple targets for no apparent reason. He uses this rather often and shoots indiscriminately. He does all of these things because I control him as a player and make decisions for him.

The profile I made is to represent me while I work on the OpenLab. When people view me using OpenLab they will know me by my profile. This is how other people will see me on OpenLab. I’ve used a character that is different from my peers. He is a character that I have built and I am proud of the resulting character. My character should be the one to represent me on the OpenLab.

My name is Ryan Hobe. I am a freshman at the New York City College of Technology. I like to play basketball and enjoy my life as much as possible. I take pride in the fact that I am independent, living on my own, and supporting myself although i have a loving family that would do anything for me if i needed help. Im not sure what I would like to do in the future as far as a career, but I like to work with my hands and be outside around other people. Engineering seems to be a good field to find that type of work environment. I would like to be comfortable in my old age as well as keeping my family comfortable. The only way to do this is to ensure a good future by landing a good job. I have many problems and daily stresses, as I’m sure everybody else does, but I try not to let it get in the way of my education and goals. Hard work pays off. I have only been in Brooklyn for about a year and a half so although I have seen and experienced new things i look forward to getting to know my new home. I plan on staying here for a very long time, but in the case I don’t, I will never forget all that I learned and the people that I’ve met. I believe that as long as i can stay focused and not get distracted by things less important I will be a very successful individual.

My chose this avatar because I am generally a happy person and my smile expresses that. I also like the shirt that i am wearing that says “sustain life”, because I promote staying alive in general which might not be as easy as some may believe. It also means to me that people should make the most of their lives while they’re here and sustain or strive for a better style of living. The water in the background is just something I’ve always loved from vacations or movies. To me it’s just very relaxing and nature is a good way to get away from problems you may have in the real world.

Other people may interpret my avatar differently that I do. They might look at my smile and think to themselves that I’m corny or somewhat of a clown because i kind of think the same thing at first-glance. They may look at my shirt and think I’m some kind of hippie or activist. The water could symbolize that I could want to be a marine biologist or something in the field of ocean exploration.

I think that my profile will convey that I am a driven person who wants to succeed. Happiness is the key to living a fulfilling life. As long as you’re happy you will be more concentrated and able to achieve your goals. I also hope that it conveys strength and that I would like to help others achieve if possible. I like to see other people do well because that makes me feel like more things are possible for me.

Hi my name is Obediah, I’m a freshman here at City Tech so this is as new to me as it is for any of you. I graduated from DeWitt Clinton high school in Bronx, New York.  My nickname is Obie for those of you that don’t like or have trouble pronouncing my name. I’m not that active, you may know that if you know me and if you’ve seen my physique. But I LOVE basketball and football, watching and sometimes playing. On my free time I like to play video games like NBA 2K and Call of Duty. If you get to know me you will find out I have a good sense of humor (I’d like to think so) and I can be a very fun person, but I do have my flaws (as everybody else). One out of three of my life passions is to become a sports analyst. Whenever I watch sports (basketball and football) I find myself knowing a lot about what’s going on and I feel that my insight on the game is something everybody should know. My second life passion is to become a game designer one of the reasons I came to City Tech. My other passion is to become a computer engineer and my reason for that is because my Xbox 360 broke and I’m determined to learn how to fix it.

My avatar is a quote, “Tell the truth and making someone cry is better than telling a lie and making someone smile” and I chose this for a specific reason. It caught my eye because it reminded of the moment when I told my best friend I didn’t think she was beautiful because she asked for my honest opinion. In conclusion to that LONG story, I chose that quote as my avatar because I feel the truth is always the right way to go.

Someone may interpret my avatar differently by thinking they can get anything out me. What I mean by that is people think just because I say I’m an honest person they can ask very personal or inappropriate questions and I’ll answer them. That is not true, I answer what I feel is appropriate and if I don’t answer that means your question was too personal or I just didn’t feel like revealing that truth. That is where most people get me wrong, if pleading the fifth amendment in a life or death situation will guarantee me life I will do it.

My profile will tell people that I prefer to be honest rather than dishonest. My reason behind that is because I feel that the truth always catches up to you in life. One lie can change how a people see you more importantly how you see yourself. When you lose yourself as person you start to question yourself more and that could be bad mentally.Also, that my major department is Computer Engineering Technology. At this point I don’t know what my major will be, but I thought I’d just go along with something that interest me.

Hi my name is Gabriel Perez-Ponce. Even though people think i am old because of my appearance i am actually 18 years old. I work at a bar/lounge in Columbus Circle called Stone Rose, i am a Food runner and sometimes a busboy. When ever i have time i like to go to the gym and workout. This is my first year in college as a freshman, i am pretty nervous because i do not know what to expect! But i know this is my future so i am going to try hard an achieve my goals in life. since  i am the first one in my family to go college i  want to make my parents proud, and be a role model to my little sister who is 13.

The picture in my avatar is me during the this summer. The background is at night in the fountain in Columbus Circle. in my Picture you can indicate that i am a happy person who just likes to relax and enjoy life especially the summer. You can also see that I’m looking straight at the camera which mean that I’m determined of looking ahead of me and move forward.

People may interpret a lot of things of my picture. that i like going out at night, that it is a nice pic, or that I am just a happy person that likes to smile a lot. from my brief description of myself above, i hope people can see how i am. just a person who is open mind and humble if you treat me nice then ill do the same. Project #1 Introducing Yourself.

Henry Li, a freshman attending New York City College of Technology (A.K.A) City-Tech. He graduated from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, New York. Henry is shy when around a new environment and new people but ironically outgoing. He plays Tennis as his favorite past time which he usually plays during the weekends as he doesn’t have the time to play during the weekdays due to his academics and education. Also he enjoys going to his local gym to an extreme extent every day after school. He previously served at Asphalt Green, a summer camp for kids aging from 4-12 year old, as a Trip Counselor for the summer. As of right now Henry has a dream to pursue a career in the Department of Education and working as a High School Teacher because he enjoys being around people that are the same age and younger than himself because he wishes to make young adults into something that is better than himself. He has a huge interest for History-related subjects and also wants to become a History teacher as he finds the way our ancestors thrived to be very fascinating.

I chose the avatar that I did which was a bright yellow smiley face to represent myself because I see myself as a person who enjoys life by helping other people. I love the feeling that one obtains after helping a person who is a situation they cannot handle by themselves. I also enjoy spending my time to do outside activities like to play Tennis, exercising every weekday at my local gym, and going to the movie theater with my friends. The avatar I chose in my opinion expresses all feelings and actions of someone who is great to be around and always there when needed. It is my dream to someday acquire a job that deals with helping people who are much younger than I, so I as the much older adult can explain life lessons that I’ve failed to utilize.

My avatar can be easily misinterpreted because seeing it’s of a very simple picture of a smiley face, someone could easily imagine me as a person who is always smiling and in the mood for anything. This avatar of mine could depict a different message to an individual. Reasons being that they could see the smiley face bringing in a creepy vibe, or they could also believe that I am bold but as I’ve stated before I’m quite shy in an environment around people I’ve never met before, It takes a bit more time for me to get comfortable with new people then others.

My profile will hopefully convey the message that I’m a freshman at City Tech but that doesn’t hinder me from achieving goals of majority of my seniors wish to achieve, which is to graduate college knowing what we want to become and to pursue the career of our dreams. I follow the motto of “No Pain No Gain” which means that hard work means greater value rewards. My avatar relates to the previous quote ” No Pain No Gain” because as the person strives for a goal one does not give up, once that person reaches that goal they will feel as they worked hard and will feel good about themselves. Therefore I am determined to become more than just a “pass” or an underachiever to the things I set my mind on. This is an important message to convey to those who view my profile and want to know more about my personality.

My name is Gabriel Algabyali and my family is originally from the Middle East. My grandfather came here about 50 years ago as an entrepreneur looking for a new start and a chance to be successful. With his slim-chanced success he brought his family to America. I was eventually born Brooklyn and I lived here for 6 years until I moved to Orlando, Florida about 15 minutes away from Disney World where I would go many times as a kid. Although I was born in the city I consider myself a suburban kid because of the majority of my younger years in Florida. Down in Florida I was introduced to skateboarding at the age of 10 and since then I haven’t stopped. I had a hard time with high school because I was always transferring and with my parents rocky divorce things took a while to get stable in my life.  I ended up going to two high schools in Florida and finally moved back to Brooklyn at age 16 where I went to another two high schools. Being back was such a culture shock to me, everyone here is a lot meaner, I feel there are a lot more crazy people, and it is a lot busier here too. Either way, life is life and you have to roll with the punches.

I looked for an avatar that I feel would represent me in the best way possible. I thought of sceneries of where I lived, maybe something from my culture, or even what I’m going for in my major but none of those felt like they gave an in-depth view on what represents me. Then I thought way not an avatar of what I do on a daily basis? So that’s exactly what I did, I chose a picture of me doing a backside crooked grind down a 4 stair handrail. Skateboarding has become such a huge part of my life since I was a kid. It has helped me get through rough times and has made good times better. Throughout my life, no matter where I was or what was going on, I can always remember myself skateboarding and forgetting everything. This is why I felt me skateboarding as my avatar best represented me.

How someone else may interpret my avatar is in a wide variety in ways. Many of views on my avatar may contradict others because there are many negative stigmas connected to skateboarding but if they really thought about what skating really was there’d be many more positive views. Some of the bad views on me would be that I am involved with drugs, disrespectful, uneducated, and hostile which all of these are untrue but there are many positives associated with skateboarding. Some good views would be that I am dedicated, persistent, perseverant, athletic, and confident. It is all a matter of what you hear from other people or believing stereotypes but skaters are not bad at all.

My profile will hopefully convey who I am as person to the point where you would know who I am by clicking on my name and going through the page. It should start by showing who I am and my interests then show why I am in college and what my major will be.  In my opinion it shouldn’t matter to someone else who I am because I realize the more you worry yourself the more productive you would be in your own life.
