Project 1: Introducing Myself.

I was born in Ecuador but raised in America. I came to New York City when I was five years old and I’ve resided with my family in Queens since then. I attended P.S. 89 for two years and then I was moved to Catholic school for the next nine. I made my way through the halls of William Cullen Bryant High-school and managed to graduate. Upon graduating high-school, I was able to get a job and just recently started my first year in NYCCT. College is something my parents never had the opportunity to attend. I basically come from the a hard-working middle-class family, with a big emphases on working. I was raised with the idea that with education and hard work anything can be accomplished. My passion is creating and I believe you are truly living, when you are creating. If you’re creating life, you will know how life should work. This mostly ties into the musical world but I want to branch out in the fields of electrical engineering.

I found this picture one day while I was scrolling down my news-feed. It was posted by a page that offers the latest news about science or something science related. The picture is of a frog, which is holding up a leaf over its head as it rains. The photographer who took the picture stated that the frog was actually trying to cover itself with the leaf. Normally, animals go by their primal instincts, so I was surprised to see that they can also think for themselves on a rare occasion this one. In my earlier years, I was very vulnerable and naive. With age, I managed to grow a spine and take advantage of what I have and not question what I don’t. Making the best of the situation, regardless if it rains or shines; this is what I live by and the picture captured it all.

This image could be misleading by giving off the idea that I might be in a not so pleasant situation. Rain usually never signifies something positive. The facial expression of the frog is naturally a sort of frown. Frogs aren’t usually seen with a physical smile on their face. So, a random person can be led to believe that I might not be happy person. But, it can also signify rebirth or redemption; “The rain will cleanse your soul” they say. Others might assume I love the rain-forest or that I am someone who likes animals. Both these assumptions are true but it is not the same as I my initial presentation.

All in all,  I want my profile to validate the idea that everyone is more than meets the eye. One picture can give you a glimpse into what the person could be like but it’s not concrete. It’s an educated guess, a hypothesis. I personally enjoy trying to figure out humans and how they interact with one another in different social environments. So, the best way to  figure out someone is physically talk to them and stop assuming! This matters to me because we’re not kids anymore and can’t go around acting like kids anymore. Maybe the person avatars is something that you don’t particularly like but it could turn out in actuality that once you actually converse with them, they share many other mutual interests.

Project #1 : Introducing Yourself

My name is Nabilah Ahmed, I recently graduated from Midwood High School, and I am a freshman attending New York City College Of Technology. Since I’m the oldest in the family, I am the first person to set foot in college. I’m so excited to come and experience the college life. My major is Accounting because I love math. Although I realized accounting isn’t all math. I hope I do great in City Tech since Accounting is only 2 years here. After 2 years I can transfer out and continue my studies in another college. Majority of my life I was shy. When I stepped my foot into high school I became very social with everybody like getting to know them so that I don’t feel bored. At a point I am very scared and shy to speak in front of all public people but after awhile I get used to it. By the end of my studies I hope I will be working into a business which I will purely like. In another words a business that I can be manage to do so. Like inside a bank and being part of meetings.

The avatar in my profile picture is me. The background is just a wall so the picture can stand out. This image represents me because it shows how I love sparkly and bright stuff. My smile shows that I’m a social, happy, funny, and a out-going person. I don’t take things to heart. That’s what I love about my self. It also shows that I’m not a boring human being. By me looking straight at the camera it shows that I’m truly excited to look forward in the future to see where and how things are. One important detail I left out, as you can see I wear a head scarf to cover my hair so that I’m protected from the angels and so that I am true with my religion.

My avatar has one particular meaning. I’m pretty sure people will say a lot of other things about my avatar. Some may say positive things and some may say negative things. There’s many ways that a image can confuse people. You know how they say “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” You just have to be true to yourself and always think positive. Thinking positive will lead you to the right path. Honestly I have no comments on how people can misread my avatar. So basically their is nothing to be said.

My profile would convey that I am a bright minded person. I always stay true and always smile no matter what. It will also convey that hopefully I come to be someone in life that won’t stop until I fulfill my goal as an Accountant. My image also can tell people how I am living my life presently. It’s important to have a bio in your pic because that way people can see who you really are even if they don’t understand your avatar. I hope I get to meet some amazing people throughout my years in City Tech through open lab and get to know the college better so in the future whoever I know wants to come to City Tech I will be able to tell them what they have and don’t have.
