This illustration is called “Phosphorite” and it is created by a Pixiv artist named 梦幻天, the media the artist used is digital art. The color technique used is analogous colors, green, yellow, blue, and some purple when looked closely. The artist used the color very effectively which create balance and unity between each color, especially when creating lightings and sun glare around the girl’s head. The whole colors are very relaxing and pleasing to the sights giving it a warm, bright, sparkling, and calm environment and artwork! 🙂

Week 6 Colors notes

For these designs, I kept the designs and colors simple. In addition, I understand that each color can be monochromatic as long as other colors are also monochromatic when doing complementary, analogous, or triad. Week 6 lesson is very interesting, getting to see other’s artwork and especially the professors! :D, In addition, I understand that I can also use limited palettes of colors or light values of colors as long it fits the complementary, analogous, and triad relationship. In addition, when looking up some references I realize and also forgot some superheroes like Superman’s costume is a great example of triad-relationship colors!

Greyscale Value Study

Composition Value Studies

Sorry, but I sort of made things difficult for myself so I’ve done 2 variants one value studies and one composition studies. My work process is that I’ve come up with multiple thumbnail sketches and chose 2 of the best design. The design that you are seeing now is the one I chose out of the 2 best design the design is a girl sitting in the clouds with the moon in the background relaxing and enjoying a cup of tea. After I’ve chosen this final design, I’ve clean up the lineart and fixed some of the mistakes, and now proceed to make multiple values studies, one using simple grayscale, and the other one using compositions in hopes. I hope that these designs will be able to help guide the viewers to move their attention towards the girl drinking tea.
