Four Keys Class and Job Orientation

After Traditions, I got my first Four Keys class and job orientation schedule. They were divided for three days in one week. Again, we were required to wear a business attire and woke up early just like Traditions. I have to admit, the Four Keys class was a bit boring because it was super long. As usual, at every beginning of our class/orientation the speakers played a safety video about the things to do in case of emergency. Afterwards, they played a short clip about the company and Walt Disney himself and welcome speech by Robert Iger – Disney’s current chairman and CEO. Our speakers talked about the function and importance of Disney’s Four Keys which are Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency. They always have to come in order of importance on every occasion like for safety; it has to be the first one to be considered in case of emergency and it can ignore the rest. “Safe D Begins with Me,” a famous Disney safety quote which is present at all location.

The second and third day was my job orientation which includes long hours of computer lab exercises about food safety practices and signing up to the “HUB”. I was a bit happy because I already learned about this stuff so I managed to finish early. Some questions that were asked includes time and temperature control for certain foods, kitchen lay out, and other sanitation questions. These questions are very important to my role because I am going to be dealing with foods. After the lab exercises, we signed up to Disney’s HUB. The HUB is basically the company’s website for cast members. We can look up, give away, trade or pick shifts from this website. All events, park hours, discounts, raffles, and other opportunities can be found here as well.

Afterwards, we went to Magic Kingdom’s costuming which can be found at Magic Kingdom’s West Clock Station and parking lot. The costuming department is huge. Thankfully, we have Ana, one of the facilitators to guide us find our costumes. For my work location in Stands East, we are required to have four different costumes plus two additional costumes during holiday seasons like Halloween and Christmas party. For Stands East Fantasyland, I found out that there were five locations: Cheshire Café, Gaston’s Tavern, Prince Erik’s Supermarket, Storybook Treats, and Friar’s Nook. My second work location is called Tomorrowland and the there were five locations as well: Auntie Gravities, Lunching Pad, Cool Ship, Space Dog, and Turkey Cart. Lastly, my last location is located in Circus with one small cart called Pretzel Cart. Hearing about this made me so excited and I cannot wait to see my work locations in Magic Kingdom!
