The trip to Florida was a very long but exciting experience. It was the first time I had driven so far from New York. I took the first run on the wheel which was awesome. The drive was smooth and there wasn’t as much traffic as I expected. I loved how the scenery changed as we passed from state to state. Our first stop was in Virginia, which we made it there pretty fast. We used the restroom and filled the car with gas and ate something quick. Since we left pretty early and were so excited we didn’t eat anything so this was our chance to do that. After driving for about 8 hours we stopped for gas and I switched with my friend. We finally decided to spend the night at South of the Border in South Carolina because we were going to make it to Florida to soon. It was definitely the right choice, they had cheap rooms and restaurants in the area and the place looked so cool that we walked around for about an hour taking pictures and looking in the shops. The next morning we continued our journey to Orlando. Driving to Orlando my friend decided to drive since I had driven the most the first day. The drive was just as beautiful as before but got bad pretty quick. Once we got to Georgia it started pouring and the sky got a dark greenish color. I lived in Texas for some time so I knew that meant a possible tornado which turned out to be true. Shortly after I said the word Tornado the emergency broadcast came on the radio and said there was a tornado warning which kind of freaked both me and my friend out. We managed to drive through the storm unharmed but got hit by another storm once we hit Florida which wasn’t as bad but still scary. We made it to Florida on Monday May 26 a day to soon so we spent a night at the Holiday Inn across from the vista way apartments. It was an exciting and exhausting trip getting to Florida just like a rollar coaster so we knew that we were in store for an experience of a life time. We got in the room and just passed out since we had to be at vista at 9am for sign in.

  1. South of the Board is a classic stop. I have been there many times in my youth and know it as a great mile stone on the long trip. I am happy that you did not run into a bad situation with the storm. Scary I bet.
