In this article, it explains how you can become a manager and how to transition into the position. In the training of Walt Disney World we learned about the basics which a couple was in the article. Working with Disney as a CP you don’t get a lot of opportunity to complete management task but every so often if a manager is not around you may have the opportunity given the situation. I am a seater at The Captain’s Grille and when the guest come to the podium to complain and a manager is not around we have to defuse the situation so they will want to return. The other day, a guest came to the podium to make a complaint about how long the food took to come out because she was supposed to dine there again later in the week.  We listened to her story, apologized and explain that the kitchen got swapped today because of the two twelve top arrived 15 minutes after each other. In the end, we took her information to make a note that she will be coming on time so we can have the tables ready to seat her party right away. We also give her menus so they can have their order ready. She was very satisfied in the end.

The best thing about this program is you can network and get to know the managers. Many have been with Disney for more than seven years and have worked all over Disney.  They are all really nice about it explains how they got to their position and if we are interested in anything else, they would help guide you in the right direction.

  1. Try to schedule some formal networking time with your managers. You may need to do the “follow” on your own time.
