Active Minds

Active Minds is a supportive organization called to help the students to deal with their mental problems. In nowadays, mental health issues in college student population are very serious problem, which has to be considered. I think, the young people need to know that they are not alone with their problems. The information about counseling services will help them to feel protected. The scared statistics about 80-90% deaths by suicide among college students are not receiving help from their colleges counseling centers, prove the facts that the existence the organizations like Active Minds is very actual and necessary.

liveWell Session 1

The first session of liveWell consisted of a few survey style questions which supplied information on the current state of my health. In the past, I was very healthy and fit and visited the gym regularly 5 days a week. For a few months I have planned on going back to that state although I have not been very motivated. Making the commitment on liveWell to address these issues, will hopefully motivate me to be better.

Livewell 1st session

After the first session, I was placed on the maintenance stage in the active phase. It was not surprise to me, because I try to live in a healthy way being active. However, sometimes in order to relieve the stress in my busy schedule, I allow myself to be lazy, eat sweets and cookies, or even to eat junk food. I believe that we do not have to refuse from the brining us pleasure things. We just need to understand that in all our actions have to be a balance and willpower, helping us to maintain this balance. Otherwise, we will have even more stress refusing from our favorite things. For example, I like ice cream, and I do not want to refuse to eat ice cream on the weekends while watching my favorite TV show. Also, I try to listen to my body, and do not force myself go to the gym after busy working day. If I feel that I want to sleep, I just take a nap and relax.

live well

Live well website was very helpful and interesting, I started with the questionnaire and i like the fact that I was very sincere answering the questions, I’m a gym member but I go to school 4 days a week, I’m very tired with homework, cooking, but I need to do something positive in my life. I’m overweight, my grandmother by my mom side has diabetes, my parents suffered from hypertension, so if I don’t start doing a change in my life I can be in serious health situation and I don’t want that. In the meantime I’m going to the gym once a week to do cardio and weights, walking in my lunch hour and eating a little bit healthy. I have to do it slowly because I’m not a diet person. my birthday is coming so I have to look beautiful.

Active Minds

Active Minds is a non-profit organization that has become well known to broadcast topics of young adult’s mental health. Mental health has been set aside since it is something that can not be physically viewed by everyone. Active Minds educates people about different types of mental illness, which can help and even save many lives. With support from everyone in the organization, a person can view their mental state in a different light. This organization is extremely helpful, many college student have to face reality when in college. During college, a student has to face many situations and life experience. Not everyone’s mind is the same, a situation is dealt differently depending on the person. This organization takes that away and instead focuses on the individual.

LiveWell

After completing my first session on LiveWell, I am able to notice the things that I  haven’t been maintaining. My dad and I would go to the gym at 4am every weekday, but since then I have become more busy. Instead, I exercises at home for 30 minutes,3 times a week. I enjoy exercising since it wakes me up and gets me motivated to start the day. Viewing the LiveWell results, I need to improve my healthy eating choices. I have tried eating well before but somehow I tend to stray off track. I completed an exercise and it does offer great hints into how to eat healthy. Hopefully by the end of the semester, I can have and maintain a healthy eating habit.

Live Well Session 1

After registering and signing into LiveWell account, I received a borage of questions which try to establish my baseline level of exercise, nutrition and stress. After answering all the questions the algorithm determined that I was at maintenance level for all the categories. We all have work, college, family obligations however with proper planning one can allocate some time and have consistency with going to the gym.

Since you stated a “a picture would suffice”, here is  a picture.

Live Well Session 1

So after doing the livewell assessment i came to a small realization that my level of exercise has dropped from when i was once active.  So in an attemp to get back into a work out rhythm like i had when i was a college athlete. I started making a work out schedule for myself so that i have a plan to adhere to like i did when i was in rugby. The assesment found that i lose motivation and some of the questions that assessed my support, made me realize i did not have any support with my exercise habits.  I started to include my girlfriend in my work out to make working out feel less like a chore now and more of something to do with my significant other.

Live Well Session 1

I have completed the first Livewell session, and I like the way it evaluated me. I am  currently in the maintenance stage in  most areas except for my eating habits which I am currently working on now. Im looking foward to the next session to see how much I have  improved.

Live Well session 1

After answering all the questions truthfully on LiveWell I am in preparation phase for Healthy Eating and Stress Management.  One of the questions regarding exercise asked if the doctor had spoke with me about not exercising within the past 6 months.  I answered yes so it would not allow me to answer more questions in that section. While I don’t have a serious medical condition that is preventing me from exercising, I have Plantar fasciitis that is being treated and the doctor asked to avoid doing to much.  I enjoy working out and because I can’t my stress level has increased.  I am hoping that LiveWell will guide me on how to deal with some of these issues.
