Active Minds sounds like a great support system for college students. It is always unfortunate to hear when someone takes their own life. Allison Malmon has taking the tragedy of her brothers suicide and is using it to help others. It is great that the organization has spread to more than 400 campus chapters, and hope that students are using the services.
Looking at the active mind site it seems to be a website that was devloped with young adults in mind. Aiming to be one of the better resources on the web that focuses on mental health as that is a part of the health industry that is rarely looked at or rather isn’t funded so much as it isn’t a sexy or viable topic to develop a program for as being labeled crazy is easier to do. Along with bringing awareness it seems that the program is designed to help and make clear that the student shouldn’t think that there aren’t resources avaiable to them. Overall it seems like a legit and thoughful website
Looking through the Active Mind website and the Facebook page it look like the organization focuses on the mental health of young adults as well as older college students. It discusses a very important topic that people do not like to talk about. Many people of the minority group do not believe that discussing issues that involves there mental health should be discussed. Active Mind bring awareness to the people that you should discuss whatever issues that you are experiencing. rather it stress with dealing with courses that you are currently taking and having difficulties with the classes. Active Mind is a group that let you know that you are not alone with the issues that you are having and help is there for you to find better way to cope with the issues you are dealing with. I would join the active mind program to assist with helping my fellow college mate with the mental health issues they are experiencing. This organization sound to be wonderful and should be brought to the city tech campus.
