GIVE ME KNOWLEDGE OR GIVE ME DEATH

If we were judged by how our heart thought rather than how our brains worked we all would qualify for a noble honor. In the case of Aaron his good heart was hurt by the laws that govern his brain and the world. His action may have arguable lead him in his demise, but what certainly did was the fact that he was breaking the law with out intention to. This “LAW” and laws that govern information have to either lighten up or come to an end it makes knowledge which should be free to the world and everyone in it a golden secret that very few should obtain. In my honest opinion the record of information should be free and able to access to all who wish to gain

I think Swartz was aware that he was breaking the laws but he also knew that these laws were unjust. He just wanted the public to have access to that information because he thought the information belonged to the public. If the public already paid for most research, I don’t think is right that they cannot get access to the results. Unfortunately, only certain groups of people have access to information. In other words, it seems that only some people deserve knowledge. I agree that information generates knowledge and everybody should have access to it. I also believe that research results should benefit everybody, not just a group of people.

I agree with both you and Livanesa. I don’t think Aaron Swartz intentionally committed a crime but was just allowing the public to access to information that they were suppose to. The way the law saw it was a horribly offensive act that resulted in, what I think, Swartz suicide.

I agree with you on the fact that information should be free and accessible not only to a group of people but to everyone with a strong desire to obtain knowledge. We should not have to pay for info that we need to know or want to know. Also we should not have to pay for info that can not only help us but also help a community that can use this knowledge to make this community better. Everyone should have access to info and not be stopped to gaining knowledge due to a subscription. We should not have a wall to block us on our path to gaining knowledge.

I also agree that Swartz was a good person, and unintentionally did what he did. All he wanted to do was let knowledge expand freely. But nowadays nothing is free. Additionally, I enjoyed this article. Knowledge will always be power. It can be the cure to cancer, the cure to any life/death situations. Also, i believe most students should be reading more and more books and setting goals for themselves. Without knowledge, we are nothing, and we stand nowhere. We cant even become something in life.

Well, Swartz was aware of the law. He knew what he was doing was illegal, yet he choose to do it anyway. Information for all is a very generous idea. Unfortunately not many in the business of information distribution would like that.
