Homework # 4- Zine

From reading the 3 links, i have come to a conclusion that all zines are strictly made as a smaller “Mood Board”. Companies always liked to make zines even tho they bring back low profit and most people think its a waste of money. However if presented and showcased correctly a zine can do your campaign a great service but to have a decent zine, you have to look up good examples and really understand a zine’s purpose. In the creative thinking link that was posted i think the author said it best when he stated ” If we are interested in understanding the world, we need to ask serious questions about the institutions that teach us about that world.” That statement can also be related to zine’s in a way where, if someone wanted to make a zine that was worth making then they have to understand why and how a zine works and what people look for in a zine. That is the big difference in between making a Mood board and a real professional looking article that looks like its straight out of a newspaper.

Young Publishers_ Homework 3

We all may agree that technology is advancing and increasing in its daily public users. There has been changes in the way we look for information in the world wide web and sharing thoughts, pictures, applications, home made videos, news etc. From reading this chapter of pavlik I can prove what technology can help do, in where  not only do professional writers can publish, but also any individual who wishes to do so. Websites like youtube or facebook can be an example of public (non professional) use to publish anything they desire to share. http://youtu.be/q8K5UGSFW40 Magazines or newspapers publishers make sure that their print productions can also be found in the web for online users to keep reading and at the same time giving them the bonus exclusive content. Demonstrating that they are not going to be left behind by this advancing technology.

Research Strategies / HW 1

I’ve never been an amazing student, having falling out of love with reading and writing sometime around 6th grade. Interestingly enough, there have been occasions where I’ve submitted papers in 6 hours after I began them, and have gotten solid grades. Reading chapters 1 and 8 of Badke’s “Research Strategies” reminded of this; of times as a child in these places called “libraries”, an ancient lore. Surely I jest, as this class takes place and is labeled as a library class. As a member of “Generation Y”, the group which caused the technological boom of recent times, it’s interesting to see myself reading this book on my iPad and sharing my response digitally on a blog. It’s also interesting that I remember specific instances of me being a research glutton, as well as writing papers via a stack of notes, one main source, and as a quoter.  I question my academic future had I available a book like this one score ago, if I would even be at this school right now. I look to consider all of these techniques and create my own plan of attack, as my jack-of-all-trades personality allows, of not forces, me to do so
