Summary City Limits

In this essay ”City Limits” by Colson Whitehead, he says that he was born in NYC and it’s the greatest city of all. It’s crowded and busy all the time. Whitehead used a lot of examples to tell the audience what the important message was. The important message was whoever lives in NY build their own kind of property. It’s a great place because when you live here their are lots of opportunities like awesome schools and amazing jobs. No matter where you go Brooklyn will be your sweet comfortable home. He also mentioned that he started building is own New York on the uptown No.1 train. Colson said how they are 8 million naked cities in this naked city. He means that no matter where you move in NY you will build you own skyline. But NY is NY nobody can ever change that. The city will always remain the same no matter what. When other’s visit New York they don’t want go back because of the bright colorfulness, how big it is, and how tall the huge buildings are. One good thing is that everything is right around the corner. Like stores, school, subways, bus-stops, and etc. Overall Colson wants us to remember all these things in NY because no where else we will find anything like this. We all should make memories while we are living here. Colson made his city by making it a guide a book with handy colored maps and fine print.

City Limits

In this passage of “City limits” by Colson Whitehead, he states that he was born in NYC and that it is the greatest city of all and that he in ruined to like any other place. You can clearly see his love and pride he haves for NYC by saying he cant love other place that is isn’t New York.

Colson says how anyone can love New  York and that the person can create their own New York when they first see it. Colson talks about how his NYC from when he first saw it, now theirs new buildings that people see. But what he sees are the same old buildings that were there before. that’s why he says to not believe anything that anyone tells you! its just hokum. To just believe the events or anything when you are present at the time not other people in their time because that’s not your New York.

Its all true what Colson is saying every and each one us have our own New York, NYC is changing everyday in every way, buts its only up to us how we want to see these changes. For example in the future like in 10 years people are going to see the Freedom Tower, but everyone of that was here before the tragedy we are all going to see the Twin Towers and not the Freedom Tower. Everyone has their own NYC and  I love my New York, and like Colson said I am ruined fir any other place because New York is the only place for me.

summary of “city limited”

From Colson Whitehead’s “City Limited”, we see New York City not just a city in his sarcastic and humorous. New York is a city with eight million naked cities in it. Everyone has their own city, based on their memories and that memories create many different “New York Cities”. As one moves, he or she carries the memory and add up to another “city”, thus New York always expanded both physically and mentally. Other people’s New York are not our New York, we built our first brick in New York is based on our first experience in this city, gradually become our own New York. Moreover, since people come from different places, the New York itself also changes physically. However, people still see New York from the past, in their memories, and experience, no matter how New York changes. The old place is the proof that we were here, when the old “building fall, we topple”. That is why it is so important to remember our New York, because we never know when to say goodbye to them and they fall and never come back.New York is the best and it ruin other places, and it will always keep moving and changing, without us it still move on. And we also move on, not hold by the former New York.
