Journal # 7

These past few days has been full of surprises and have more to come. To start, on Sunday Epcot’s Electric Umbrella was closed to all guest for the day due to major technical difficulties. With EU being closed most of the guest load fell on ODF’s showcase location and Sunshine Seasons. We got hammered. We only have two cash registers and had a line went across the showcase path and ran into the ferry boat launch. Luckily, we had extra few extra cast member assigned to help us and EU sent over some of their cast members to cook while we did everything else. This just goes to show that although we are a big park we are a small family and can help each other out when needed.

Next, there is nothing like seeing a familiar face while at work to brighten up you day. While I was breaking another cast member, Jonathan Paniccia of City Tech walks by my cart. What a small world. Seeing him made me think off all the good time we had at Anna Nurse, all the memories, and things we learned. It made me miss everyone back home, but made me realize that I’m not just doing this so that I become better hospitality student. I’m doing this so that my future work may inspire future hospitality student.

Lastly, this coming Sunday I will be giving my twin little brother and sister the surprise of a lifetime. They will be flying down with my mother for all-expenses paid trip to Walt Disney World, and the best thing is that my mom and I may have forgotten to tell them. They still think that they are going to an indoor water park in Pennsylvania. And to make it even better their birthday was on March 11 and my birthday is on March 18 so we kind of get to spend it together. I’m so excited, but don’t tell them.

  1. Your secret is safe with me and all on OpenLab!! You are doing a wonderful thing for your family. I hope you enjoy your time together and that you have a great birthday celebration.

Working without Electric Umbrella must not have been easy but an event like this shows the importance of cross training and the value of teamwork and a flexible work place. In addition to the workers you should have received some mobile cash registers, I am sure they exist and should be easy to locate.
