Reflective Journal #9

A few days ago, we had a CP meeting where the CP manager finally told us we were able to be cross trained to front desk, retail, houseperson, or etc. if we had asked. I thought it was really late for them to be giving us this meeting and wished they had told us earlier because one of the CP has to leave next week (she has trimesters). I definitely made them know that I would love to be cross trained into different roles because I really want to learn and get the most out of my internship here at Walt Disney World.

One of my coworker got suspended for 3 days because she posted comments on her Facebook that she’s been drinking alcohol in guests’ rooms. The managers in my resort found out and suspended her, but it’s been more than 3 days since I’ve seen her and she’s not on the schedule for next week also. … I think they want her to self-terminate or they would terminate her. We are still waiting for more news from the managers.

I can proudly say a few of my guests loves me! One of them is a family of doctors from Russia and the mother kept telling me I’ve been doing a great job. She asked for my managers name and told me my manager will definitely hear what a great job I’ve been doing. Also, whenever she’s seen me, without reading my name tag, she instantly recognizes me and calls out my name. I have a section filled with V.I.Ps (guests who are either friends of managers, or have special needs or allergies) and I’ve always tried to treat my V.I.Ps the best I can. One of my V.I.Ps always left me notes telling me what a great job I’ve been doing, and how they will miss me once they leave. It makes me so proud reading and knowing I’m being acknowledged by my guests.

  1. I am sure you have all heard this before but EVERBODY reads FB and nothing on FB is private. Never post anything about work that could be interpreted as negative. Once something is on the internet it is there FOREVER. Got it?

I am surprised that all she received was a suspension. Please take a moment to raise this situation with your Human Resources professors. What do they say about Disney’s policy regarding information found on FB? I would think Disney’s policy was the driving force in the consequences of her/his actions.
