Definition: needless or willful damage or violence

“But their are simple easy ways to avoid these big crowds and getting to your destination without the mayhem and maybe grabbing something quick to eat.”

I think that this definition is a bit to literal and explanatory. With this word i think you have to be a little bit vague for the definition. To me when I hear the word mayhem i think of the word crazy and disaster. One example of mayhem would be The port authority was filled with mayhem earlier today.
