Learning Log 8

My brother bought a box of donuts yesterday and there were a few left. I used this pretty colorful donut because it stood out from the box. I remember I had some sprinkles so I used some to match the donuts. My light source was sunlight, it wasn’t directly hitting my room because of a scaffolding but it was enough to brighten up the donut. Overall this was cool, I have seen some youtube videos about photography like this and people use like other ingredients to make the subject pop.

Learning Log #8

I wanted to add a light hitting the top of the muffin to create a shadow in the back as it does on both pictures shown. The lighting I used was natural light from the window; I didn’t use any modifiers as I wanted to capture the natural light to bring out the texture of the muffin and the colors that the light brings out. I did enjoy this exercise as I got to play around with the different positions as to where to capture the light.

In today’s learning log we learned to photograph food. We learned different techniques for working with food photography. I used the lighting from the window next to my dinning room table. I used tin foil for reflecting light. I had fun doing this from my home.

Learning Log 8

Today’s online class we learned about food photography. For photography lighting and angles are very important. In my photos, I used natural lighting from the windows and the shades to diffuse some of the lights. I had my ISO no higher than 500.

Learning Log #8 – Food Photography

In today’s learning log, we had to learn to photograph food. To enhance the food, there are different methods on how you can achieve it. One of the methods I used was natural sunlight from the window. Another way I use the light from outside is using a reflector which was a white cardboard to get some additive light to the grapes. Overall it was a fun assignment to find out the “perfect” setup to help enhance the look of the grapes. Something I want to dive in as a career in the future.

learning log #7

Following the demonstration you gave in class, I set up an object on a table, put my camera on a tripod, and took about 7 shots highlighting different parts of the camera and then I went into photoshop and stitched the photos together pulling what I liked from each individual photo.

learning log #7

This activity was pretty cool. I know a few friends who do this kind of stuff but for landscape. I had fun doing this and it was a challenge. I haven’t been using photoshop lately but this was different, I use to replace the sky of a photo I took of the city and put a sunset instead. But I can see myself doing this kind of stuff in the future so it was good getting some experience and ideas.

Learning Log #7

During class, we learned about composition. we learned how it was showed when certain spots hit the product to capture it. The professor showed us a way to replicate an image light through Photoshop. I was able to get certain lights but I wasn’t able to capture it exactly. However, in this photo, I didn’t do any edits to it but I’m going use it again because this could be a form of composition. The light hits it from the left side and was able to shine the left and the right side is dark.

Learning Log 7

During this exercise, it was a bit of a refresher for me, being able to reconstruct this photo using Photoshop, I was able to manipulate some of the layers, by utilizing layer masks and soft brushes i was able to add different artificial lighting sources. the Layers I altered were the following: Ear Minor Highlights, Random Highlights, Small Highlights in breather and Mask rim, Left vents, Back fill, Back Highlight, Top Front, EYES, Base/Key 1.

Learning Log #7 Product Composite

I had tons of fun doing this week’s learning log. I was able to learn so much more about photoshop than I was before. Like for example masking and the brush because I would get so confused back then. But listening to the recording helps me by making me understand better than before. The reason why I would want to use compositing for this type of work because I made the left vent and the red glowing eyes pop out more when I was editing this on photoshop. I darken both the right vent and the mouth part. I was thinking i could maybe use this for my final project or for any future projects
