Learing Log 12

during this assignment, Jason and I explored the “Reconsidering Icons” Exhibit. this was a quite interesting one. the overall theme was how famous photos were either recreated, or dissected and added a new take on it. One piece that Jason and I enjoyed the most, was “After Life” by Broomberg and Chanarin. This piece was inspired by a famous photo taken by jahangir razmi, in Iran. It was a photograph of a group of Kurdish prisoners being executed. my favorite part was how Broomberg and chanarin took the photo apart and created new compositions. This added a new dimension and perspective to the image. This experience was interesting, was definitely a genius substitute compared to the real thing. only thing is you don’t get to see the detail these artists put into the work because you can’t be right in front of it.

During this exercise, I used a photo taken from class of me, That i directed in taking. I decided to use complex magazine as my base company, sue to the fact that complex doesn’t make any prints anymore, and They used to be my favorite magazines growing up, because they always had my favorite rappers as the covers, and I would rip off the covers and put them on the wall. I enjoyed this exercise a lot because one I actually had a decent picture of myself for once.

Homework 5/7

during this assignment i manipulated red towels, and a quite a few tank tops. couldn’t really find a room that could fit the scenery of the painting so I just settled for my room, and then I photoshopped the background of the picture into it, then i added myself to the foreground. using my own wooden tale and a red towel on top. I had to wrap my hair up because lately it has just been too much! the source of lighting is from the top right corner of my window, the rest i covered with my blinds and some bed sheets.

During this exercise, we focused more on manipulating window light. Utilizing it to creates front, side and back highlights. I used my old Hulk Hogan Action figure as my subject. i know my window is a bit on the dirty side but i was hoping to window light would take it more out of focus. even though I was just using my phone for this exercise I feel I still got some okay shots.frontlit

First I would like to Thank you for pushing some actual healthy food into my body during this quarantine that was filled with hot pockets and little bites. During this exercise I utilized some fruit I found in the fridge. I used a small dish to get the fruit real close together. I went back to my room for the lighting because I have a shelf right next to the window. utilizing the exposure mainly helped me capture these photos.

Learning Log 7

During this exercise, it was a bit of a refresher for me, being able to reconstruct this photo using Photoshop, I was able to manipulate some of the layers, by utilizing layer masks and soft brushes i was able to add different artificial lighting sources. the Layers I altered were the following: Ear Minor Highlights, Random Highlights, Small Highlights in breather and Mask rim, Left vents, Back fill, Back Highlight, Top Front, EYES, Base/Key 1.

While experimenting with light painting, my group and I utilized both pixel sticks and strobe lights. while manipulating shutter speeds, we were able to manage the time we had to create with the light. the more time we gave us the more complex we were, involving different colors of light as well. we also used color gel filters to change the color of the strobe light, adding a more moody effect to the image as well.
