Brainstorming project 4.

Thinking about project 4 made me contemplate if I should reuse the Brooklyn Bridge as my location or to discover a new location due the the fact that with all the research I’ve done on the Brooklyn Bridge why not use this opportunity to learn about another. Now to find another location that interests would require me to take another walk around City Tech maybe I should walk the direction towards Adams Street to see if I can find something new there. I’ve been thinking about the location ever since Professor Rosen announced project 4 and I’m getting very eager to take this walk around CityTech and try to find this new location. This location will have to have two interesting vantage points, also must come with an abundance of credible sources where I could utilize to support my claims.

Project 4

Intro-The Brooklyn Bridge is what comes to mind to every single person once the Borough of Brooklyn is mentioned. It has various historical events and stories throughout its years of existence. Two key accounts are the the Brooklyn Bridge’s past state and its present state.

Body I- The Brooklyn Bridges past state

Body II-The Brooklyn Bridges present state

Body III-Comparison of both accounts

Conclusion-Restating and development of thesis: Two key accounts in the Brooklyn Bridges history are its past and present state.

Brainstorm of Project #4

When I found out about Project #4 and that we can choose a different location I was kinda excited but then when it came to thinking about the location I got lost. Since I chose Brooklyn Bridge for Speech class and for English class I’m thinking to stick to the same location but then when it comes to writing two stories on it, I kinda lose it again. I do have information about the bridge which is easy to write about but for the stories I will have to do a lot of thinking on it .

Reading Lucy-Summary

In “Reading Lucy”  by Jennifer Egan, Egan talks about Lucille Kolkin and how they both had a bond. She explained how they use to meet at the Brooklyn Historical Society on Wednesday and Friday. After sometime they lost contact for each other. When Egan got the letters from The Brooklyn Historical Society of when Lucy and Alfred used to write to each other while Alfred was away for World War II she saw how many similarities Lucy and she have. Egan was eager to learn more about the Brooklyn Navy Yard and about Lucy’s life. While Egan was researching on Lucy’s life she noticed how Lucy sent many emails to Alfred while he was away. She also finds out that she dies. From reading the letters Egan actually felt like she was closer with Lucy and connected as well. We can tell from this novel that it shows how much Lucy loved Alfred and we also know about their love letters from each other through Egan.

Brainstorming Poject 4

For project four am decided to write about Plymouth Church because since I did my informative speech on it I’ve already done research about it and it really intrigues me to know more about this church and its history. Is fascinating that this place is so near from City Tech and that through out history it has had a great affect on slavery. Even President Lincoln has visited the church. On project four I mainly would be writing about the change the church had when the place burned out years ago and how they rebuild it according to Beechers desire. They accommodated the seats in a way that all the people would fit in the church to listen to Beecher preach.

Project 4 Brainstorming

For project 4 I am debating whether I should keep the same location as I did for project 2 or change it. Since I have already done a project on Borough Hall I know a lot about the place. This means I would probably have a lot to write about it in another essay. I have also found a few sources and stories on Borough Hall that would fit into my essay. However, I am still searching for new places in case i find anything more interesting. I would like to find a place that has an interesting past so i can enjoy writing this essay even more. I am thinking about going on another walk around the City tech area in search of a new location.

Brainstorming about Project 4

First of all since I received project 4 its been a hard time thinking about the location I want to talk about because the location has to be the same for both the classes Speech and English. But after thinking a lot I decided that I have no option instead of going with BHS because that was the topic for my informative speech. The one big that gets me worried is what two stories are there on BHS i can talk about in my essay. As per my research from my informative speech there is not much information out there on BHS expect on its official webpage. But if I take everything from a single resource that would not be considered credible. That is the reason I wanted to write about Brooklyn Bridge because there is tons of information online. One question that came in my mind is that I want to use the reading did in class about BHS but I dont know how to use it correctly. Like where to put that information, how to cite it, can that be counted as one of my stories. And if you can give me an example  how to relate it with something so i get two stories.

Brainstorm of Project #4

Since I am too lazy to think of another location as our walking tour, and Fulton Street (Mall) is the only place I am interested in Downtown Brooklyn; therefore, I think I will keep my location, Fulton Street (Mall) as my topic on my project #4. In this project, I will talk about this place “value”, probably the current and future value, and the personal value from people. And I also will focus on two vantage points, the owners of the store and the customers, to tell the importance of this place and why this shopping place should be in the walking tour from their point of view. However, I still have problem on this project; because Fulton Street is not as popular as Soho, there is not much creditable information on the internet. I might use the opinion on the blog, although I understand I should not do that, but they still shows people view on Fulton Street.

Class Summary 11/11

Today in class we had an double session with Professor Rosen and we reviewed Adrianne Pasquarelli Crain’s article. In our groups we summarized the article in one sentence and revised the sentences as a class. In the second we were given the our project 4 topic and was given time to go do some research on our topic before meeting back up in class. Professor Rosen showed us how to pinpoint our location on the map on the blog and by our next meeting we have to have an outline done for project 4 so we can work on it in class.

Summary of English class-11-6-13:

Today in English class Prof. Rosen gave us our midterm exam back. We looked over our grades and the exam then she gave us a lesson on things we should do to get a better grade on the final exam. She first went over the first part on the exam which was to summarize the story “““The Tunnel Rats of Atlantic Avenue”. She then explained how to do better on the second part which was to write an essay on our own experience and compare it to the author’s experience. She gave us examples on things we should work on which is posted on our our lab site.  The lesson was very helpful and thought us how to become better writers. Then after that she made us look at our exam and fix it. At last she gave us a story to read that is called  “Gotham Farmers Sprout Cash Crops” by Lisa Fickenscher for homework.
