Third 100 Word Reflection: WikiGalaxy

I am aware that I constantly fall into a Wikipedia Rabbit Hole time and time again, no doubt about it. Reading this short piece on Wikipedia Rabbit Holes and how the visualization chain is mapped out was pretty cool. I feel like in the moment, we might not remember how we got from A to K, I do however feel like when we are going in deeper and deeper, our brain already maps out the paths, or the connections and tucks away the information. I believe it is important to fall into a Wikipedia Rabbit Hole every now and then.

Pre-Site Visit Reflection 1

I have never knowingly been to Vinegar Hill, although in the past year I have been downtown Brooklyn many times, and over the course of my short lived life span. I am a little anxious to go, and after reading the some of its history I am very interested. I am however trying to not set my expectations so high for what the sight may look like, so I am trying to keep my mind as open as possible until we actually visit the site. I do however hope that the places looks very cool and has some type of visual history but I will definitely be waiting until I see the site in person before coming to a conclusion about my thoughts.

Second 100 Word Reflection: Visual Notes

While and after reading chapters one and three of Visual Notes book, I was able to kind of understand why my mind works the way it does. I am a person that usually needs to write things down for it to make sense to me but sometimes I have to take it a step further and draw out what is really going on in my mind, and how (the thought process) those things are going on in my mind and usually everything because so much more clearer. So reading these two chapters just felt familiar and relatable, and definitely enjoyable.

First Word Reflection: Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn, Downtown Brooklyn, Dumbo

The history of Vinegar Hill was interesting, reading about the people that have been there, and how the land has been passed on was quite something. Although I did know a little about the history of Brooklyn, it was nice to learn so much more about the borough I dearly love.  I always saw Downtown Brooklyn as a version of Manhattan, and this reading confirmed it. Up until now, I actually wasn’t all that familiar with Dumbo even though I heard about it, I never paid it any attention. Overall, reading about the history of Brooklyn was an eye opener.
