So today I had the most amazing day. I decided to sign up to one of the Voluntears Opportunities Disney has to offer for its CPs and it was one of the most heart warming experiences I’ve had in a very long time. The group and I met at The Commons Club at about 5 and each got a Voluntear shirt. It was a bit weird because I was the only male in the group but it made me stand out. We then took a van ride to the event. The place we went to volunteer at was called Give Kids the World which is an Organization who’s number one goal is to make kids that have life threatening illnesses lives a little more happy by setting them and their families up in a storybook like resort. They team up with different theme parks and organizations like make a wish in order to make those kids and their family happy. Once we arrived to the location it was truly a storybook it was full of colors and full of life. Once they gave us an introduction of what Give Kids the World was all about and what we were going to do today we were treated to some dinner. The Theme for the day was winter wonderland which was exciting and heart breaking at the same time. Some of the kids wouldn’t make it to Christmas so this was the Organizations way of ensuring that these little angles had a chance to experience one more Christmas. We were given costumes and I got to play an Elf and walk in a parade. It was so hard to keep from crying seeing all the kids happy faces and their parents. We got to dance with the kids and play games and they even wanted to take pictures with us. I felt so blessed to be able to give these kids a day which they would never forget and an opportunity to forget all their worries and pain and be kids.
You made a difference on this day. There is nothing better than to make magic for a child who is sick. You will remember this day forever.
