I do know some of our CPs trail manager and coordinator as trainees, but I don’t trail our manger so far and not complete yet management tasks yet. However, everyday we have a short meeting before we start to work, and our manager will mention some important information about us.
This week we have a new house-person joining in our PM housekeeping team. He takes care of support, glasses and metro. Manager reorganizes runner and housekeeper’s work, sends new person to share their heavy work. I think this new situation happened because manager listen to employees’ voice a lot, and she takes some suggestions from housekeepers and makes wisdom decision to benefit all of us. When I pass by the base, I always can see our housekeepers talk with our manager, sometimes it is about their job, sometimes it is about their life; therefore listening is a very important part to be a manager.
Secondly, talk respectfully is also the key as a manager. How to talk with employees correctly so that they are totally willing to work for company is an art. One of housekeepers told me that she always says to our manager that housekeepers are not her kids at home, we are individuals and adults, if she wants us to do something, speak respectfully because we are equal. Our manager is a humorous person, she makes jokes in our meeting and break time, she tries to relax her employees and makes friends with her. Networking is not only among the leaders, but also with all the employees because they are the people who work with guests closely everyday and they know how to create magic better than managers.
Thirdly, I think manager is a knowledgeable person, and their knowledge is from everywhere, such as books, experience, other people’s talking, etc. To be a manager, he/she should always know more than his/her employees so that he/she is more persuasive for all.
