Read & React 1

With this being my second Traditions, it was interesting to see the difference between the two. The first time I did Traditions, I did not have any expectations. Was I in for a surprise! To start, the atmosphere they set at Disney University is one that is based around showcasing our companiesā€™ history, heritage, and family style working environment. The walls are lined with our successes, which made me feel like a success. The wall colors were bright and warming, like that atmosphere we are asked to create for our guest. In my past jobs I have done a company orientation was where we learned was what the companiesā€™ goals were and what was expected of us. Traditions gave me an in-depth look into the past, present and future of a company that has stood the test of time. I truly could not succeed in any give role without the knowledge that what I was are doing has been tried, test and approved by generations before me. But it also shows me that if I had an idea of how to make improve the status quo of a givin item, task, or operation i need not be afraid to share it. Thatā€™s what the company is built on, different people coming together to share their ideas to create the greatest experiences for all who visit. As my first Traditions, one of my Facilitator said ā€œFrom the moment you walk through the door we made you feel the same way the guest feel when they will visit youā€.

Now that this is my second program, I realized that I had to do all Traditions over again. I was not the nicest of the seven dwarfs. I knew everything that they had to offer me. There was not much that they could show me that I didnā€™t already know. Once again I was wrong. During my second Traditions I experienced something that, in my option, can only be experienced when repeating something that you have already invested time in. I experienced the rejuvenated intrigue that Disney gives ā€œTo all who come to this happy placeā€ each and every time. Even though the information was the almost the same my Facilitators presented it with their own twist and flares. Some parts I liked others, not so much. But to me, that is that definition of Disney, not to try to please everyone 100% but to make sure that everyone is enjoying themselves. Wither it be from the smiles on their childrenā€™s faces or their own, we as cast members are interested with that responsibilities.

  1. I like your approach to Traditions, using the words “we” and “us” and “our” makes big impact in your approach to your work. By internalizing your commitment in the way that you do and then consider the guest’s experience you are sure to continue to make “Magic”.

  3. In relationship to the article, the article seem to be an almost exact written for form of what Walt Disney’s Traditions already does. Traditions starts with several videos from our Fonder, Walt Disney himself, all the way up to our current CEO Bob Iger and other current cast members. as part of Traditions everyone get a tour of the utilidor and Magic Kingdom. At the conclusion of Traditions we were given a preview of what the company is currently doing and developing. We were also told what to expect in the coming day left with some finial word from Walt.
