This first week has been a very interesting and very busy week. I settled into my new apartment with so far, the best housemates I have ever had. One of my housemates is also a program alumnus and we have really taking on being house leaders. The process of going through casting was very smooth and efficient due to new hires portal. From what I remember it used to be 3 hours, is now it only 1. For my spring 2013 college program will be working at EPCOT Outdoor Foods.
Today was my Discovery Day at EPCOT. Even though I have done it before this time turned out to be the best one yet. The climax of the day was when our facilitators had all of us form a circle on the showcase side of the water fountain, turn outward to face the guest passing by and wave to them. All of a sudden the EPCOT theme trumpets and music comes on and the announcer says “Ladies and Gentlemen Please Gather Around and Join Us in Welcoming the Newest Cast Members to Join the EPCOT Family” all of a sudden the fountain cannons go off and everyone is congratulating us. I am pleased to say that all but two of trainings carried over from my previous program and due to ODF being short staffed my trainings are being pushed up.
What a welcome! This small but powerful gesture helps reinforce the objectives of making Magic, I love it. Remember the feeling you had a try to incorporate a moment like this when one day you are in the leadership position.
I have no doubt that you to becoming a leader in your apartment, leadership is very much a part of who you are and I do not think you would be able to suppress these leadership tendencies even if you tried.
