Working at Pop Century’s Everything Pop Food Court we have different ways of keeping the magic alive for our guest. In the process of keeping the magic alive we also have fun. Every day at 8am we dance the twist and encourage our guest to join, at 2 pm we have the Mickey March in which we go around the dining hall in a March with paddles that have characters on them. During the march we encourage the kids in the food court to join us and we give them stickers and pins for joining. Other ways we maintain the magic is by using certain phrases like have a groovy day or singing happy birthday to guest. Sometimes little things like that is what the guest needs to have a magical experience. It’s true that sometimes we get the same question asked over and over and sometimes the questions sound a bit silly but you have to realize that no matter what the question is if you can help make a guest happy you should do it. In the end seeing the smiles on a guest face or a simple thank you helps to motivate me in ensuring the happiness of the guest. Disney has numerous ways to motivate it’s employees to keep the magic alive. Aside from the perks like free park entrance there are things like help with school, 401ks and health care just to name a few. They also recognize employees for doing magical moments for the guest with things like the four keys cards. In places like Pecos Bill they give employees Pecos pesos that they can use to buy food. Little things like that keep employees motivated to keep the magic alive. In the article Why Do Employees Stay? A Qualitative Exploration of Employee Tenure the author talks about why employees stay in their jobs. One of the reasons pointed out is financial reasons and the other one is because of their coworkers. I agree with this because most of us who have a job work to pay for bills. As for the second one I have to also agree. We spend so much time at work that we build a bond with our coworkers. Some become as close as family so you look forward to seeing them and interacting with them which in turn makes working much more tolerable.
