Weekly Reflective Journal 4

This week has been a very hectic week due to Labor Day Weekend and there were a lot of checkouts. I am still a trainee and I was already assigned 5 checkouts and 2 linen changes on a board of 10 and 12. At first I wondered how could I do this because I felt that I would take a lot of time to do the checkout rooms. In the end I managed to complete my board along with helping other housekeepers with finishing their boards. I didn’t think about receiving tip from guest but my supervisor told me if they were there, I was allow to take it. At first I didn’t care much about tips but now, I felt that seeing any kind of tip is a motivator because I see the tip as the guest’s appreciations for the housekeepers.

  1. I agree. There was so many people in Labor Day weekend. It was a bit hecked being in training and being able to learn all what the company that day. I do merchandise in Epcot, Future North and there are few people shopping the whole day. We are not allow to receive any gifts or tips, so your lucky to be appreciated by guest. The weekend overall a lot people were training and the guest had respect for us, taking the time to learn and get on the register.

  2. Completing a full board is not easy but WOW you did it and helped others. As I said in previous posts, really take a moment or two to consider the culture of your department and your location. It is more often then not that support is not widely encouraged between full time house keepers and CPs. This culture of support did not just happen, it was built. I look forward to your examination and reflection of your department.
