Training for me started this week and it definitely showed me that housekeeping will definitely be one of the harder roles. There are so many steps and procedures that are needed to be followed to maintain a clean room and I know for sure I will need to adapt to them fast. I have never worked in a hotel so this was my first experience and I definitely broke a sweat cleaning rooms. My biggest struggles will have to be tightening the beds perfectly and making sure each and every layer of sheets/blankets are spotless.

I know that this role won’t be easy but I know I will try my best to create a memorable stay for our guests. One thing that helps me a lot is how friendly the housekeeping family was to me. The first thing one of the housekeepers said to me was “Welcome Home” and it was the phrase we use for our guests when they return to the resort. Right off the bat I knew I can ask other housekeepers for help when needed and I will definitely return that favor when asked.

Hey Johnny I hope you are enjoying your role so far I’ve been in housekeeping for almost three months and so far I love it I got deployed to do PM housekeeping so it’s a little different but I still have to do rooms, and yes at first I had trouble doing the beds making sure all the sheets were layered right and the corners tight. Don’t worry practice makes perfect!

Thank you for the comment. I look forward to learning more from housekeeping and learning the tricks that might help me complete rooms faster. I also think that maybe I should mention to my leaders and managers that I have a back pain problem that tends to come back when I overwork it. I was thinking I should mention it soon or else they might think that I’m just trying to back out from doing rooms.

  2. I like that the two of you can support each other’s learning. Housekeeping can be challenging both physically and mentally. It is good that you both seem to have been welcomed into a supportive environment, this is not always the case and you need to consider what your leaders are doing to create a positive environment.
